I get power to the the coil, as well as a ground, however, no signal telling the coil to send a spark (From what i can tell by putting a test light on the signal tab in the electrical connector). Also, the ecu code tells me that the catalytic converter is bad, replaced the cat, and both O2 sensors. no cracks or corosion on the coil, brand new. any chance i picked up a faulty cam sensor?

Anything is possible. Without a shop manual and the tools to diagnose the ignition system you may have to tow it to a shop. You might be able to test the cam and crank sensors with a meter or test light if you know what to look for.

If you have no spark at the plugs, are you getting voltage and a ground signal at the coil when you crank the engine ?

Check the crank sensor TDC. It is a very common failure.

What would cause a car to crank but not start on a 2002 ACURA TL 3.2L?

No reaction to starting fluid means no spark. Cam sensor, timing sensor, spark plug coils etc. Likely will take a mechanic with professional testing tools to find the cause.

Car will not start

Motors need three things to start...spark, fuel and air.

Are your spark plugs getting spark?
Do you have adequate fuel pressure?

It turns but it wont start,it has gas and power

Pull off the coil ignition cable at the distributor and check for spark coming out of coil when cranking engine over. Use a heavy rag or glove to hold the wire 1/4 inch from a metal ground. Should see a strong blue spark when cranking to verify ignition is good. If no spark, check for battery voltage to coil on the coil primary. If you have current to the coil, suspect a bad coil, ignition module, crank position sensor, or cam position sensor, or pcm. The coil, ignition module, and sensors can be tested before replacing.

My 02 chevy cavalier turns over but will not start. I have replaced ever thing i know that could be wrong.

Replaced coolant temp sensor, would not fire before replacement. sat overnight an won,t fire off cranks fine just no start has had new timing belt, new starter, new batt., new coils an wires, new plugs

to many things have been done=wasting money.test the spark by remouving the plug wire put a1/4" bolt in the end of the wire hold it with an insulated pliers near the engine metal and have someone turn the keyas though starting.if you have a good stoung cracking spark ok.irf not the computer may not be activaitng the coils.+cam crank sensor no good. the cam sensor has been a big problem.probably find further info at the library.or have it towed to a sop.there are a lot of more complicated issues involved with a no start that need to be tested before throwing more parts at it.

93 honda del sol will turn over but wont start. It has a new time belt, distrib, and the main relay works.

Is it not getting spark or gas? It needs both to run. Both main source. If no spark in any cylinder, then ignition module or crank sensor is likely faulty. If no gas, then fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump or fuel pump relay is bad.

TWO DAYS AGO 94 RANGER (4 CYL) SOHC...STOPPED ON ROAD. CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START. HAS FUEL PRESSURE. CHANGED FUEL FILTER. CHANGED AIR FILTER. CHANGED ONE OF THE DISTRIBUTOR COILS...TWO SPARK WIRES WERE NOT...

If all the coils are giving spark now, then you moat likely have gas fouled plugs now,so change them out with new ones, all 8 of them.If you do not have spark on all plug wires, pull the timing belt cover, and align the cam shaft and the cam,to see if the belt has jumped. If It hasn`t,replace the crankshaft sensor.

Installed new timing belt plugs wires coil crank sensor still wont start

Check to see if you have spark/fuel. If you don't have one or the other, you most likely have a bad crank sensor (spark), bad cam sensor (fuel), bad fuel pump if you don't have pressure, or a bad PCM. Probably need to get it checked out somewhere to know for sure.

Audi 100s 1993 cranks doesn,t start, turns over no start. when it starts runs rough and stalls.

could very well be a faulty sensor, leaky vaccum hose, bad coil packs, needing of new fuel filter, spark plugs, wires.

Have you checked your fuel pressure to make sure it is good. You can do this with fuel pressure tester on the fuel rail.

Also check every cylinder for spark
If you don't have any spark, or very weak spark, you could have bad coil pack, module, or crank sensor.

You can remove one plug at a time, and place it back on plug wire, place it on top of engine block, have someone else turn motor over well you observe to see if there is spark.

Do you have a service or check engine light on? If so, I would have the engine codes read to pinpoint exact problem area.

Let me know if you have any questions or need further help

My s10 will turn over, but wont squirt gas through injecter

Does it crank? Do you have any codes? Check engine light? Do you have spark? No spark check coil, and connections, also it would be nice to know what year it is. Get codes read. No crank check battery and starter. No codes or lights check crank position sensor, make sure your pcm is good after replacing your ignition mod you could have blown it if you did do it right. (engine computer) Check cam sensor if applies. Crank and cam could prevent it from starting and I know one I think cam controls pcm's fuel delivery on gm's
