98 Jeep Wrangler with Alarm Problem - Installed by Marietta Jeep

I bought a 98 Jeep Wrangler from Marietta Jeep and they had installed an alarm that uses a small key you plug into a receiver under the steering wheel. It worked for 10 years but now it won't disengage. When I try to start the Jeep the horn honks and lights flash, but won't start. Any ideas how to disable the alarm?

The fix was dead on. The only changes is they did not splice the Orange wire. All I had to do was connect the large black cable to itself and everything works fine now. Thanks for your help.

Your vehicle has 2 ignition wires that you can put back to factory, and start the vehicle.
The wires you are looking to put back together are (blue) and (black/orange) - and found under the D/S dash. (ignition harness) They will be larger in Diameter than the others.
They were cut to install the security system. They go into the "brain" and out the other side. A relay inside the BRAIN is most likely failing.
If you no longer want the alarm installed, simply match up all of the factory colors. Use crimp-on ****-connectors for secure connection.

2003 Jeep Wrangler alarm sounds in cab but no indicator lights flash

The beeping alarm would be for leaving the key in the ignition or the lights on. Maybe a gauge that had dropped to zero.
Let us know if it happens again and what the conditions are.

I have a factory installed alarm on my 2003 jeep cherokee ,how do i disable alarm

Hello! The drivers side door lock/unlock switch is more than likely defective...Having said that, the alarm system on Jeeps are a constant problem...To disable the system requires removing the drivers door panel and cutting the Light Green/Orange wire at the switch...And installing a 465 Ohm resistor...Not something done without the necessary skills...
I would have the vehicle towed to a Jeep dealer and have them test the drivers door switch and disable the alarm....Guru...saailer

There are several things you need to check. Start by checking the alignment between the pinion gear of the starter and the flywheel. If that is loose or binding the starter will do this. Next, check teh starter relay to make sure it isn't faulting out. finally, if you have an Alarm installed, cut the power wire to the alarm or pull the fuse to make sure it isn't the Anti-Theft circuit malfunctioning and stopping it from starting.

I disconnected the alarm in my 94 jeep wrangler and since the starter doesnt work. I think I found the starter wire but can not find where it reconnects. The starter does not turn over at all but there is...

Look for a Bose type relay lead from the small (control) wire from the starter.
A good installer will hide this relay in the inner side of the firewall.

I short this relay is connect between the alarm and the starter control cable.

Bypass the relay and you are done.

That's not a remote starter on your key chain, it's a keyless entry for an alarm system.

Car Alarm

I had the same thing happen to me when I lived in Las Vegas. Mine was a 98 Rodeo also with factory alarm. I took it to a shop but they said it was the radio waves that caused it to go off and I could buy a new one. I had to take my horn fuse out b/c i didn't know what else to do at the time. Then I moved and I never had the problem again.
