Typically the squeaking occurs most on a cold day, but even on a hot day it will squeal for a while and sometimes it will stop when I engage the clutch. It's worst when I turn but I've also noticed that it may somehow be connected with the AC because if I turn the AC on it will start squeaking briefly but it will go away. It doesn't only happen when the AC is on though I've just notcied that sometimes it will initiate the squeak... help please.
The ac belt is sperate from the power steering belt.. sounds to me you need to replace the belts (both of them) but theres a idler pully in the middle of them all witch may have a bearing going out on it..i had to change mine at about 85,000.. when i had the belts off i spun the pully and it was excessivly stiff cause'n slipage and also a squel.. hope its not the alt, or water pump making the noise..they can run ya into some $$
Whenever I turned on the ac in my '97 Altima it squeeked loudly. By tightening the belt (at the bottom of the engine near the right front tire) the problem was resolved. But there's still a squeeking noise when I turn the steering wheel hard to the left or right. Does this mean I need to tighten the other belt run by the alternator near the top of the engine?

I AM HAVING THE SAME PROB WITH ALT BELT/ PULLEY.. ITS A CONSTANT SCREECH NO MATTER WHAT.. WHAT CAN I DO? I THINK ITS THE ALT PULLEY.
This is your fan belt. you just need to tighten it to fix this problem
when you turn it engages your power steering which runs off the fan belt. so when you turn or turn on your ac it makes this belt work harder, and because it is loose it stats to slip and cuases the squeeking noise.
you can tighten this belt by adjusting your altenator
