1984 Jeep CJ 7 Renegade power steering box seems to have stiffened up significantly. Can I free it up or does it need replacing.

If it only goes stiff part of the time, the box is probably OK.

Before considering major surgery:

  • check the power steering fluid level.
  • condition of the fluid
  • condition and tension on the belts
  • check for low or uneven tire pressure
  • check steering linkages for damage (did someone borrow the car recently?)
If none of these check out, then consider replacing the pump.

This totally depends on how Much "Hard Driving" that you do. Offroad, 4x4 all the Time, ETC.... If you do I would Change at every 50,000 If not Every 80,000 is OK

Have an 83 cj 7, just replaced the power steering hoses. Thought I had fixed the problem, now the back of the steering gear box is leaking as well as the steering coupling boot is ripped. Don't really...

You can get the parts to rebuild your steering gear, but in all honesty for the trouble and time you will have invested in rebuilding the thing. If it were me (and beleave me when I say there was a time I wanted to do it all myself. up to and including manufacturing new parts from a chunk of steel) I'd go with a rebuilt steering gear. You can try to replace the seal but in the long run some thing made it give out in the first place.

2000 A6 BLOWS #25 FUSE

A/C keeps blowing the fuse after I got it recharged. Its the R-12 system and it seemed to be ok before but now I got it recharged and replaced the blower motor in the front and now as soon as I turn it on it blows the fuse. I replaced the 3 fuse black and even rewired the fuses then took off the connectors tot he rotary switch and replaced those but it still blows the fuse. Any suggestions?

Could I have messed something up on installing the blower motor. __________________

I need the wiring schematics for a 1984 jeep renegade

Check with faxonautoliterature.com. They list a couple of wiring diagrams for 1984 Jeeps although they don't specify Renegade. These are official Jeep dealer diagrams for $29. I've used them before and had excellent service. Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm trying to put a new flaming river steering shaft onto my 1984 CJ& with the power steering. The new shaft has a 3/4'' yoke and 36 spline count, but I cannot for the life of me get it to mount on the...

check the splines for consistency as many have a master spline ( one wider or like 2 as one) so that the steering wheel always ends up in the correct position
you may have to fit a different yoke to the box to take the new shaft
