I have a 2003 dodge durango that the shifter cable got messed up and i replaced that, however it drives fine but you have to get under the truck and manually shift it in to gear so it will start. It is stuck in drive and when you pull the lever it does not shift. someone suggested the gear shift linkage. anyone help me???

When the shifter cable was installed it seems like it wasn't adjusted correctly when installed,

the person that installed it said that it was.

It normally just bolts right up to the transmission and your shifter, but when you do this you should have your car on jack stands and run through all the gears from the shifter making sure it works and doesn't get stuck, it might look hooked up right but if never ran through gears you don't know how it's adjusted

sounds like you should start by dropping the pan and changing the filter, put cheap fluid in it or reuse the old fluid if its not too bad bring it to a shop and have a transmission flush performed with a good flush machine your valve body is sticking and this should clear things up please rate -jeff

Take a look at the down shift cable and make sure its not broken especially were it connects to the throttle linkage. And maybe try cleaning the electrical plug that plugs into the trans. Its about a 7 to 9 wire plug. They tend to collect water and short the wiring out.

You need a new shift lever assembly. I see them go bad all the time. Should still be under warranty if it is under 36K.

Will not start, shifter indicator no light up

Try to start in neutral. If it starts, replace the neutral safety switch. Under the vehicle, on the drivers side, mounted to the transmission, under the shifter cable. It needs replaced anyway because the same switch gives the signal for the shift indicator.

2003 dodge durango while driving lost acceleration, shut it off, restarted then drove fine for about 4 miles did the same thing but this time it didn't want to start. After a couple minutes it started

sounds like the crankshaft sensor gets warm and then opens up, once cooled off it closes again ( it is a transformer in epoxy housing ) I would replace it.

My 2003 dodge durango shuts down at random times when driving

Sounds like your battery cable may be loose or not properly attached, try tightening the cables down on the battery posts.
