All of the spark plugs on both sides of the engine turn in a clock wise direction to tighten and in a counter clock wise direction to loosen. If you put your fingernail in the threads of the spark plug you can see which way the plug would go if its turned.

How to change the spark plugs on my 2009 Hyundai Sonata 4 cyl.

remove 1 spark plug wire from the plug. Find a socket that fits the spark plug and connect it to the socket wrench. Put the socket on the spark plug and turn counter clock wise until the old spark plug is removed. Check the gap on the new replacement plug ( make sure you have the correct plug first). Put the new spark plug into the hole that the old 1 came out of and turn clockwise by hand making sure it is in straight, then tighten it clockwise until tight.( WARNING: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE PLUG OR YOU WILL BREAK IT). replace the spark plug wire. repeat the process with the other 3 spark plugs. Start the vehicle. If you are replacing the wires, take off 1 wire at a time, match up the size and replace the old with the new.

Plug turned a 1/4 turn and locked down didnt want to force it

no dont force spark plug its trying to cross thread.back spark plug back out.apply thin coat of anti seize compound to spark plug threads.if you have problems getting spark plugs back in a hard to reach place, use a long piece 3/8 vacuum hose about what ever length you need.place vacuum hose over spark plug insulator then install spark plugs to hard reach places to keep from cross threading.if plug tighten 1/4 turn.back out spark plug and try again.dont cross thread or you have to remove cylinder head.if spark plug hole hard to reach to retap or install thread inserts.

How to replace spark plugs in a kia sorento

The 2006 KIA Sorento is a smaller SUV with a 3.5-liter V6 engine. This engine uses six spark plugs to run the engine properly. There will be three spark plugs on each side of the engine. All six spark plugs will need to be changed at the same time to ensure that all six are working equally. The spark plugs are in plain sight on the right and left side of the engine and have rubber wires connected to the top of each one.
  1. 1 Insert the edge of the spark-plug gapping tool under the meal arm in the center of the one of the new spark plugs and turn the gapper until the number .038 is in the center of the metal arm. Repeat this for all other new spark plugs.
  2. 2 Open the hood of the 2006 KIA Sorento and remove a rubber wire from one of the spark plugs. Use the ratchet and spark-plug socket to remove that spark plug from the engine.
  3. 3 Insert the new spark plug into the hole where the old plug was. Hand-tighten the new spark plug until you are certain it is seated properly, then tighten it further using the ratchet and spark-plug socket. Replace the rubber wire to the top of the new spark plug.
  4. 4 Repeat for all other new spark plugs. Once you have replaced all six spark plugs and replace the rubber wires to the tops of them, close the hood.

Ithink my spark plug wires are in the wrong order, how do Ifind t

On any four cylinder engine the firing order is always 1-3-4-2. Cylinder 1 is at the front of the engine, the same end as the timing chain and the opposite end to the gearbox.

Remove the spark plugs and manually turn over the engine until the timing marks line up (down by the crankshaft pulley). You can use a socket on the crankshaft nut to turn the engine bit by bit, the purpose of removing the spark plugs is to prevent cylinder compression making it easier.

Once the timing mark has lined up, remove the distributor cap and observe the position of the rotor arm and briefly pop the distributor cap back on: the lead exiting the cap above the rotor arm should go to cylinder #1. The next quadrant that the rotor arm advances as you turn the engine over to will be the position that the lead for cylinder #3 attaches. By the same process you can then identify where the leads to cylinders #4 and #2 go.

When finished, ensure that the distributor cap is securely fastened and refit the spark plugs: if they're taper seat spark plugs (no washers) then when they just get tight then tighten no more than a further 1/6th of a turn. If they have washers then it's an extra 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn and a bit more if they're brand new plugs where the washers have never been compressed. Refit the leads in the correct order which you've just established and make sure that they're secure and you should be good to go unless there's another problem.

How to change spark plugs on the v6 Nissan 2000 Maxima?

For the 3 spark plugs in front:
1. You would have to remove the plastic protective cover (this cover is silver&red w/ the words "nissan and v6 3000")
2. unplug connector and remove coil (DO NOT mix up the coils, keep the same coils on the same cylinder)
3. Remove spark plug

Rear 3 plugs: located on the rear of the intake (the black pipes atop the engine). there are 3 openings at the rear of the black intake pipes, each opening has a coil mounted.
1. Unplug coil connector and remove coil
2. remove spark plug (you'll need a long extension)
***Installation is reverse, be sure not to over tighten the plugs!! Use anti-seize compound on all the new plugs threading. Hopefully this helps!!

Spark Plug: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 43094 Spark Plug Boot Puller
1. Turn OFF the ignition switch.
2. Remove the ignition coil assembly.
3. Use the J 43094 in order to remove the spark plug boots from the spark plugs.
NOTE: Allow the engine to cool before removing the spark plugs. Attempting to remove the spark plugs from a hot engine may cause the plug
threads to seize causing damage to cylinder head threads.
NOTE: Clean the spark plug recess area before removing the spark plug. Failure to do so could result in engine damage because of dirt or
foreign material entering the cylinder head, or by the contamination of the cylinder head threads. The contaminated threads may prevent the
proper seating of the new plug. Use a thread chaser to clean the threads of any contamination.
4. Remove the spark plugs from the engine.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Use only the spark plugs specified for use in the vehicle. Do not install spark plugs that are either hotter or colder than those specified for the
vehicle. Installing spark plugs of another type can severely damage the engine.
NOTE: Check the gap of all new and reconditioned spark plugs before installation. The pre-set gaps may have changed during handling. Use a round
feeler gage to ensure an accurate check. Installing the spark plugs with the wrong gap can cause poor engine performance and may even damage the
engine.
1. Measure the spark plug gap on the spark plugs to be installed. Compare the measurement to the gap specifications. Refer to Spark Plug Usage.
Correct as necessary.
NOTE: Be sure that the spark plug threads smoothly into the cylinder head and the spark plug is fully seated. Use a thread chaser, if necessary,
to clean threads in the cylinder head. Cross-threading or failing to fully seat the spark plug can cause overheating of the plug, exhaust blow-by, or
thread damage.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the spark plugs to the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the spark plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
3. Install the spark plug boots to the ignition coil assembly.

How do can I change spark plugs?

hi hillardgarne,

1. Purchase a wrench for spark plugs
2. pull the tension wires from engine.
3. insert the wrench until wrench gets a grip of spark plug
4. turn until plugs are completely loose
5. do this for the rest of the plugs
6. replace old with new plugs.
7. do the same thing but now, you tighten the plug (like screws)
8. return the tension wires

important:

* remember to know exactly the correct location of each tension wires, return to it's exact location (length of wires will help)
* as you take out old plugs, cover the hole where plugs are placed for it not to get dirty.
* in replacing, make sure that plugs are tightly inserted (not to tight though)

hope it helps.
