Works fine in 1st,3rd, and 4th. After shifting to 2nd it will engage and then act as if you shifted to neutral. By moving selector to neutral and allowing engine to idle for a few seconds you can return selector to drive position and it will re engage into 2nd and continue thru 3rd and 4th normally
I think you have a problem with your electronic transmission control system, unfortunately you will need to take it to a transmission tech to have it diagnosed
good luck!.............thanks for choosing FIX YA!
Hello vwolf3
Check the color and smell of your trans fluid if it is dark and smells
bad then there is no getting around it,(it doesn't need to be changed,
it means you have a problem), you will be buying a new trans or paying
for a rebuild. You most likely have a problem with you intermediate
clutch assembly which applies in 2nd gear, while many tranny's have had problems with speed sensor operation, it usually will not
cause a slip condition but rather late and/or early shifts also
skipping shifts. VSS signal is used by the PCM to control shift timing
and feel but a rev up is usually a clear indicator of a slipping clutch
pack and loss of internal trans line pressure. I hate to be the bearer
of bad news but it doesn't sound good once there is a slip and fluid is
burned there are no quick fixes/cheap fixes. You can try seal sweller
or trans fix in a can and they may help for a very short while but not
for long. also don't waste you money changing the trans fluid this will
never fix a problem ( except maybe Torque converter chatter) trans fluid
is hydraulic and since there is no combustion in a trans the heat is
much lower than in an engine and therefore even if the color is darker
the fluid still retains its purpose. Besides fluid change is for
preventative maintenance. Anyways I feel for you I know how expensive it
is to fix these darn things. Take it to someone you trust and get their
opinion. If you cant afford to fix it I suggest to drive it very gingerly
especially through second gear and drive it until it dies like you have been driving it.
let me know if you have anymore questions and good luck

First can you check your transmission fluid for me as well as the gaskets and seals. Please post the results so we can continue to help you the best we can.
Have somebody reputable flush and change your ATF using Wynns or equivalent process. Costs $100 maybe. They will tell you if the old ATF was "burned". If it's not the dealer, they might even give you some free advice. If this doesn't cure it, sorry, you're in for a trip to the transmission shop :( On second thought, have you checked the ATF fluid level lately?
This
is a problem with the Shift Interlock System and not the transmission.
Bet you're glad to hear that. The Shift Interlock System requires the
key to be in the "RUN" position and the brake pedal depressed in order
to shift out of "PARK". This is to prevent possible vehicle runaway.
There are
a couple of possibilities here. The first is the Brake Pedal Position
(BPP) switch. You can usually tell if this is bad if you have no brake
lights at all. Another possibility is a bad Shift Lock Actuator or
Shift lock solenoid, located under the console.
First thing to do is check fuses 28 and 32 in the fuse box, if you haven't already done so, and make sure they are good.
To check
the BPP switch, check for power at the light green/red and light green
wires with a test light with the key in the "RUN" position and the
brake pedal depressed. If you have power there, then check for power at
the light green wire at the Shift Lock Actuator.
f you
have power at the light green wire at the Shift Lock Actuator, ground
the black wire. If you hear a click, then you have a bad ground and it
needs to be repaired. If not, the Shift Lock Actuator is bad and needs
to be replaced.

My problem happens when I am driving. When I begin accelerating the transmission will shift from 1st to 2nd. It will begin to pull in 2nd then act as if it has shifted to neutral. Engine will rev but trans. is not engaged. At that time I must put the selector into neutral, allow engine to idle for a few seconds, then put selector back to drive. I do this while vehicle is still rolling. It will then re engage into 2nd gear and continue to shift thru 3rd and 4th normally. No slippage in 1st, 3rd, or 4th
