2006 kia rio misfire

My 2006 kia rio check engine light is on. The "P" code said there was a misfire in #4. I checked the plugs, Autolight, and they looked fine except the gap was at .045 instead of the .028 to .032. Changed them all to .032. Ran good for about a week. Light came on again. When using the air or heater, the car acts like it wants to die for a second, then runs fine. This happens on and off. This caused the light to come back on. Havent had a chance to check the light again. Whats the problem?

Could be a weak coil on number 4 cyl.
Switch coils between 3 and 4 and see if the code now reads #3 misfire, then you will know you need a coil.
Maybe the check engine light will stay off after the switch.

SOURCE: Check Engine light

that code definition is "Evap high purge flow fault". It means you may have a problem with the evaporative system. this system routes fuel fumes back to the fuel tank. If you want to try and clear this code, find the radio code for your car and then disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. Reconnect the battery and the check engine light should be out. You will then need the radio code to reset your car stereo. the check engine light may stay off if the condition was a transient one. If not, the light will come back on after you drive the car two drive cycles. That is: two starts, warm ups and shut downs. If the light returns, have a mechanic check it out.

check the fuel line hose near the fuel regulator for wear as they tend to leak or corrode causing a gas smell inside the car. My 2000 Kia Sportage just had the same problem with the gas smell inside the car.

the check engine light is not caused by any wrong fluid level or dirty air filter or anything else like that, it is caused by well over 100 faults that can occur in the computer controlled electronic engine and emission controls, u will need to go to a Kragen or Autozone parts store and get a free OBD 2 fault code test to get the code that set your light.

SOURCE: 2006 kia rio check engine light on and code P0455

A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

  • A loose or improperly affixed gas cap
  • A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)
  • Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

With a p0455, the most common repair is to:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

Yes a misfire could cause a false 02 code. As far as why it's misfiring could be a plug and wire issue but hard to say without looking at it

P0304 code is a cylinder 4 misfire. If the plugs or wires are bad it will cause a decrease in power. I suggest changing the plugs and wires and see if that helps.
