1996 Acura 3.2 TL windshield wiper problem

The windshield wipers on my 1996 Acura 3.2 TL stopped working. When I turn them on, they do not wipe the windshield. Every now and then they will work once or twice then stop again. If I pull the wiper blade across the window it will sometimes cause it to wipe again once or twice. It only started happening after it got cold this winter (maybe just a coincidence). I was thinking that if it was an electronic problem, it would not work at all. If it was mechanical, such as a gummed up linkage, it seems like I it would make a sound, but when I am standing outside with the switch turned on, I do not hear the motor "trying". Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

I will see about pulling the motor assembly. The wipers wont run now, so I cant really check the workings by running it. Thanks.

They have what one guy, I know called a small "transmision" that engages both wipers and the speed. On one car the winshield wipers transmission connections were loose. A small bolt came off.
Check all the workings by running the wipers .
Try to get to the wiper motor assembly and take a look at it. You may have to remove some screws.

My 2000 Acura TL wiper arms bang the cowling and pillar. What is wrong

might be someone took the whole arm off to paint em or whatever so while they are in the off position check to make sure they don't need a quick adjustment for example if they are flat/level with the windshield lower seal if they are than you got the wrong size blades if they are off a little than remove clip holding the windshield wiper arm and slide off of the cog and move it a couple teeth till its flat than check your work by turning the wipers on if they aren't perfect than keep adjusting till they are on both sides

1999 Acura TL - WIPER BLADES HIT HARD ON BOTH SIDES, IS THERE AN ADJUSTMENT OR JUST REPLACE THE WIPER MOTOR

I had this same problem. The wiper blades would extend too far and hit the edge of the car, or they wouldn't extend far enough and only wipe about 3/4 of the windshield. The problem was a broken Wiper Rod A. My local mechanic replaced it - the part was about $20 and the labor about $230. Have them look at wiper rod A
