Well Ms. Charlie that all depends on what was on in the car at the time ....
After reading this, go to your car and turn the key on, but don't try to start it, just look at the dash and tell me what lights if any are on .
Pay attention to the small things like does the door chimes still sound when you open the door with the key in, does the dome light still come on when you open the door, do the blinkers still work .
The answers to these question's will aid me in PROPERLY helping you with your problem .

The headlights stay on when the battery is connected

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

Even when you turn them off by the switch ? If so, you have shorted the headlight relay, fused the headlight wires together somewhere in the curcuit, or fused the headlight switch .

Do you have automatic headlights that come on at dusk ?

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

the light swith is off the key has not even been turned on and as soon as i hook battery up they come on. They do have an auto on the switch.

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

I trully believe that you have fused the headlight switch . They aren' that high or hard to fix . Stay away from the dealership if you want to save money though .

where is the fusiable link on the 96 prizm

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2012

Find the main wiring harness, and take off the protective cover . Then look for a wire(s) that has a white/cream colored plastic piece in the it, and thats your fusible link . keep in mind that when a fusible link blows, it doesn't work anymore; its just like a fuse . Pay more attention to the headlight swicth as I advised you before .

Tried to jumpstart another truck, hooked the cables up wrong & I think I blew a fuse. I have no idea which one. Any suggestions?

If you did hook the cables up the wrong way on two batteries there would have been a blinding flash and a huge spark which would have blown the end off the jumper cables. Did this occur because if it did, then you may be lucky and have done no damage, or you may have done a lot of damage. If there was no huge spark, then I am unable to guess how you connected the two batteries and you need to be clearer about how you connected them up.

I hooked the jumper cables wrong on a 93' Toyota Camry.. now the car will not start..it makes a sound like a whats to turn on but it does not

Check every fuse one at a time. If it is blown replace it. Once ALL the blown fuses have been replaced try starting the vehicle.

2001 Mazda protege radio and lights in car not working after jumper cable s were hooked up backwards

Connecting jumper cables the wrong wat around most likely has damaged electronic components such as a radio and computer.
Check the fuse box and replace any blown fuses.
If you still have problems then get an auto electrician to fix your car.

Impreza 2.0 sport station wagen yr 2000

You have a few blown fuses; either under the hood or in the dash fusebox. Hooking up jumper cables backwards will pop a lot of fuses. I see this quite a bit.
