99 grand caravan- one brake light works, the other doesnt. checked fuses, checked bulb, both are fine.

What could cause one brake light to work but not the other, aside from the fuse under the dash? the bulb works if we put it on the other side. good bulbs do not work in that spot. the cap the bulb goes into has also been changed, so its not that. we also changed the fuses under the dash. anyone have any ideas?

Wiring issue . Do you know what a wiring diagram is ,what a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? How to trouble shoot automotive electrical circuit's ? How about voltage drop testing. If one brake light works the fuse is not the problem , one fuse powers both. It would be best to look at a wiring diagram so you know which wire at the brake light has the B+ voltage an test at the bulb Doing voltage drop testing .

Click the search button then the second blue link . Scroll down to the third diagram , on the right side of the diagram , notice fuse #13 20 amp. under that the brake lamp switch .Then notice BS01 - this is a body splice , good spot for trouble . Then do you see the white with tan trace wire ? this supply's the B+ voltage to the brake light's . Could have corrosion in the wire's inside the tail lamp assembly .

Get a test light and check for power. If you got power check the ground, and the contacts, if not follow the hot wire back to the brake switch to locate the short.

Do you own a test light? Check for power at wires behind socket? Clean socket good , check contact spots for bulb & clean any rusty side of the socket with emery cloth, or sandpaper, for good contact also.

Your owners manual should tell you, but look under drivers side dash as well, for a black panel that you undo , and drop down to expose another fuse panel.

On my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan the brake lights and back turn signals work fine. I changed the bulbs no luck. Any ideas

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Try checking your signal fuse and tail lamp fuse for the brake lights. They may have blown. If they are good, for the brake lights, you could have a bad brake switch, which is located right above your brake pedal. As for the turn signals, you could have a bad wire somewhere in the harness. Check closely at the bulb sockets. It is possible that you could have a loose wire at the signal switch or a bad wire.

Driver side brake light won't work. Bulbs are new. 2003 Grand Caravan

Pull down the fuse/relay panel under the driver side dash. You will see a fuse for each side of the van> Right brake light and left brake light. Check the fuses for a blown fuse controlling the drivers side and replace it with the same size fuse. Hope this will help you.
