On the 1.6 DOHC also I have found that the small holes next to the cam timing mark you can put a drill bit or bolt in there's a hole in the back on the head they will fit in jit will aline them prefect plus hold them in place don't forget to remove them prior to turning the motor over makes a hell of a noise trust me on that one ??
Double check crankshaft timing mark, on your lower timing cover has some timing marks - crankshaft should be on the 0 mark. Camshaft timing marks--intake camshaft mark set at 3 o'clock and exhaust camshaft mark set a 9 o'clock. These timing marks are critical for motor to run and start correctly. These timings marks can move while trying to install the timing belt. After, you confirm or reset timing and belt, you can confirm timing is correct by rotating the crankshaft twice. Your timing marks should be on right on timing marks discussed at the top of the page. If timing marks are off, start over with timing process.
SOURCE: how to set the timeing on 91 geo storm
The timing marks are located near the top of the crankshaft pulley on the plastic timing belt cover. There is a notch in the pulley to mark TDC (Top Dead Center)
Align the notch with the 0 mark on the plastic cover to set your base timing.
Ground the proper circuit on the ALDL connecter located under the dashboard somewhere under the steering wheel. Check the manual for the proper circuit to ground.
With the engine warm and the circuit grounded. Set the proper timing. Un-ground the circuit and you are done.

Leaks water under the dash or antifreeze. Sounds like it needs a heater core. If you replaced the thermostat it might still have air trapped in it.
