Tc, abs and service brake assist lights are on

I have switched out the wheel speed sensor on my cts 04 and the tc,abs and service brake assist lights are still on. The code shows up as c0040 which is the right front speed sensor. Any suggestions?

Could be a wiring problem or the object that triggers the sensor.

SOURCE: my speedmeter only works for about a half mile

The correct scan tool with tell you the specific issue with you ABS & TC system, AKA EBTCS, or electronic brake & traction control system. This computer system reads the speed of each wheel by sensor and magnet wheel.
If you had it scanned & replaced the sensor that was bad, then remove the wheel and take out the sensor by hand. Look in the hole in the wheel hub and inspect the wheel magnets for any damage or corrosion. This can be replaced if damaged. Apply a small amount of bearing grease to sensor and reinstall.
If your scan shows a comunication problem with the control module, then it can be easily removed and repaired for under $200 at modulemaster.com
Air or contamination in the brake system can also cause an issue. Bleeding the ABS module takes a command from a scan tool, and it will pump for 10 seconds. Make sure you have a bleeder open on one of the calipers. Then bleed out all the brakes by pumping the pedal and hold, then release pressure in line by unscrewing bleeder screw and closing it after 2 seconds, then release brake. Repeat a few times, and listen for air bubbles to go away, if any.
Good Luck!

The ABS module may be bad if it has false ABS, TC, and Brake Light on and the Shift lock won't release.

SOURCE: check engine light, brake assist, and tc light on

I had the exact same issue it sounds like, I had to take the car in and have a hose changed out because it had gotten punctured somehow. This caused the computer sensors to go crazy.... cost was around $150.00.

Service traction system on 2003 pontiac montana

Check the wheel speed sensors. Traction control reads wheel speeds to know when a tire loses traction(it speeds up compared to the others). When the TC control module(computer) senses a problem such as a sensor out of tolerance, or an open circuit, such as a broken or disconnected wire/connector, it disables the TC and lights the light as a tell-tale.
Are you having trouble with ABS? Usually a wheel speed sensor defect will also affect the ABS too.

My 2004 Pontiac grand am by ram air has trac off light on and the abs light on what does that mean?

It means that there is a problem with the ABS (anti lock braking system) and traction control systems normally because of a component failure. When you get these warnings the ABS and traction control systems will be de-activated by the computer.
So you will have normal braking function but no anti lock function on your brakes to prevent wheel lock up under hard braking and no traction control system to assist you when a tire or tires begin to lose grip on the road surface.

You need to have the ABS system scanned for fault codes which will help identify which component has caused the problem with the system. Frequently the cause is a failed wheel speed sensor or sensors which are needed for both the ABS and TC systems to operate and it is possibly that issue in your case also. Or there could be an issue with the wiring but there are numerous possible causes. You won't know until the diagnostics are carried out properly. For this issue I would take the car to a GM dealer service center. They have the correct scan tools to diagnose ABS and TC problems and will have seen many others with the same fault appearing.

In the mean time your car is perfectly safe to drive but bear in mind that you will not have the ABS and TC systems to help you if you drive too hard for road and traffic conditions and get yourself into trouble.

ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYS ON

ABS = Anti-lock Brake System.
TC = Traction Control System (Engine Control Module).
If the ABS lights on the dashboard permanently the ABS system is faulty. You must access the ABS & TC Electronic Control Units (ECU) memory for pull out all DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car. Then you will be full informed about bad pieces (e.g.: front right wheel abs sensor interrupted, ...). After bad pieces replacement you will be able to erase all faults memored by ABS ECU, in other words reset the ABS system and turn off the warning lamp on dashboard.

I suspect bad brake pedal switch, but you should scan the ABS & TC ECU's.

What does it mean when ur tc light is on in a chevy cobalt 05

tc stands for traction control and usually means that something in the system is not in order, say like a wheel speed sensor. However, if the abs light goes on at the same time, it's usually a wheel speed sensor somewhere.

This could be a module or a wire to the wheel speed sensor on the tc side.

Get an ABS Brakescan Tool, like an Actron OBD-II ABS Brakescan tool to help to diagnose what is wrong.

They cost like $100 plus shipping on Amazon.com.

My tc and abs light are coming on all the

Speedo and traction control; check wheel sensors all 4, clean and blow the sensors and reactor rings.
Is ABS light on as well? if so, you need a EBTCM module mounted to the brake ABS pump facing the battery. There are places in the US that rebuild them with warranty for under $150.

The TC light comes on and I Don't know what TC stands for?

traction control. you probably have an antilock brake light on too. they go hand in hand. maybe you have a bad wheel speed sensor it is very common on your car. mostly the front wheels. You have to change the whole wheel bearing hub assembly it is all one part with the speed sensor. Have the abs system scanned to see what the reason for the light.

2 weeks after I had brake pads replaced ABS and TC light came on and it was found that a sensor connection was loose. Drove fine for 2 weeks and light came on again. Serviced aging and a new sensor placed....

Good chance that the ABS sensor need to be adjusted to the speed ring on the hub. it's a common thing that happens when the brakes has been service and the technician did not measure the gap between the sensor and speed ring on the hub. Clean the speed ring on the hubs and measure the gap the the ABS sensor to the speed ring and double check the wire harness. inspect for any damages like corrosion. The gap should be 0.005 to 0.050 inch (0.127mm to 1.270mm), use a brass feeler gauge so it wont stick to the magnetic abs sensor. Good luck and hope this helps.
