Starts perfectly but won't idle

Starts every time then stops after about seven seconds every time. Runs great when revs are about 1800 or higher. Have checked air flow meter resistances and all are good. Ignition coil is good.

SOURCE: IT IDLES HIGH AN WONT REV UP

Change all the filters (fuel and air). check and see if all your spark plugs are firing or just change them. if it is fuel injected make sure your injectors are working. Hope something there helps get it running good.

your throttle position sensor is maybe causing an overfuel,or the egr is plugged and when you rev it up,it is not burning the excess.if you leave it like that, the excess unburnt fuel will burn out your catalytic converter

SOURCE: mazda rx 8. engine

could have water in your oil for the smoke but try to change the plugs first and plug wires for a little tune up and also after that if no changes then you might need to try changing coils or coil pack whichever one your vehicle has

2004 fiesta zetec 1.4 idling over 2000 revs.have to turn on a/c to bring it down to 1800 revs?

This is caused by only a few issues, first and most common is an engine vacuum leak, you should be able to hear the hiss if you have one with the hood open, the second is a sticking idle speed control valve.

Pathfinder "cuts out" at 2,300 rpm

Replace your MAF, its a little pricey around $280.00 or so but this will clear the code but make sure you have the ECM reprogrammed to perform a "learning" sequence since sometimes the code will not clear even though the vehicle will run like new. This reprogramming will most likely have to be a dealer performed procedure.

Car runs great then dies at a stop light...could a larger amprage fuse be the problem

car stall out at stop light could be faulty idle air control valve or power brake booster has leaking diaphram causing large vacuum leak.

Acceleration won't go past 3000 PRM at idle

The car does have a maf, but it is rarely the cause of rough idle. Rough idle is usually caused by vacuum leak, pvc issues, or idle air control valve. What does it do, specifically, and is the engine light on?
