(ask an associate who makes keys) and spray it on the KEY only and put it in and try again...do this a few times and it should free it up a bit. Sometimes the tumblers inside the lock get "stuck" from use...

2003 4runner key will not turn off engine. key turns easy not catching. can take key out but will not start engine. had to disconnect power

It sounds like you have a faulty ignition lock that you'll need to replace. If the contact from the ignition lock that sends a signal to your ecu is slipping or whatever it is not cutting off the power flow to your computer which will in turn stop the power to your ignition system. Get a new lock and key and problem solved.

When i insert the key it will not turn i was told the ignition switch is bad and i need to put in a new one how do i install the new one

The Ignition Switch and the Key Cylinder are 2 entirely different things. If the key wont turn, find a Locksmith. The ignition switch is under the lower column cover and should be easy to replace.

KEY WONT TURN IGNITION

Your car uses a transonder key, a key with a small chip embedded inside. The transponder is matched to the immobilizer unit in your car. When the key is inserted into the ignition, the immobilizer searches for that transponder, if it's not near the ignition, the car will just keep turning over and not start. Your only real options are to replace the steering lock or buy a transponder bypass unit, which I do not recommend. Just do a google search.
