Cannot open soft top

Everytime I pull away the sid screen say " soft top obstructed, remove any obstacles in the way" when I try to open the convertible top same message or this comes on "soft top can only be operated manually." I did wash down my engine two days ago, can I possibly caused any damage to the computer if it is in the engine compartment. I did not soak the engine but I did give it a fast spray washing...........There is absolutly nothing in the trunk.

you need to spend some time triing the best you can to get the top of the door panel open a bit to see what is broken inside, most likely a clip. The other thing to try is a slim jim to get the door open then repair the door lock.

SOURCE: Saab 9.3 convertible Water into the storage of the top

Yes there are two drain hoses and one or both are most likely clogged. Check the bottom fist - they drain to the side of the car and you can see them just peeking out beneath the moulding/rocker panels just fore of the two rear wheels.

SOURCE: 1996 Saab 900 S Convertable Will not open/close

there are a few reasons that this might be happening but first i would check the compartment where the top is store when down. There are sensors that tell the car if the compartment is ready for use and if the compartment is being obstrcuted you would get that code. email me at [email protected] if this does not work I may be abloe to help you futher.

SOURCE: 2001 saab convertible switch does nothing when pushed

OK... I think it's working... Here's what it seems to be. When I installed the AudioTroll, I mounted it to the heating duct along with the two bundles of wires in the console of the right side foot well.

I went in and completely removed the audiotroll and it still didn't work. So moved the wires around and the top started to work again. Then I started to install the Audiotroll again and checked the top functions after each step. All went well until I started to mount the actual control box.

Apparently somewhere in one of those bundles of wires one is bad, probably one of the ones that goes into the up-down top switch bundle is bad. Probably one of the wires is also used for the rear windows, which is why they didn't work either.

So the AudioTroll is back in and working (works with an older Nano, but not my touch by the way...) And the top is now working and the car is back together, but I don't really know what to do with the bad wire. Guess I could ignore it until it malfunctions again, which could be never... I guess.

I guess I should dig in to the harness at some point. Anyone else have this happen, and if so what did you do? Is there a replacement harness?

6 Speed Crafts Riding Lawn Mower LT1000 Why gear shift won't move out of any Speed?

Let's troubleshoot this problem step by step:

Linkage Adjustment:
The issue might be related to the linkage between the shift lever and the transmission. Sometimes, the linkage can become bent, broken, or jammed.
Inspect the linkage carefully. Look for any signs of damage or debris that might be obstructing its movement.
If you find any bent or broken parts, consider repairing or replacing them. Also, ensure that the linkage is properly lubricated according to the user manual.

Purging the Transaxle:
Try purging the transaxle to ensure smooth operation. Follow these steps:
Place the mower on a level surface away from any obstacles.
Turn off the engine and apply the parking brake.
Disengage the transaxle by moving the freewheel control to the disengaged position.

Check for Mechanical Obstructions:
Inspect the area around the gear shift lever and the transmission for any obstructions.

2008 Saab 93 Convertible top doesn't operate (doesn't open or close; no warning lights showing)

The soft-top system works with a combination of mechanical, hydraulic and electronic means. This provides fast and exact control of the motion. The soft top is opened and closed either with the control button in SIC-C or with the remote control and the function is fully automatic. No manual handling is necessary.

The soft top, which is pulled taut on the mechanism, comprises three layers, one outer water- repellent, one insulating and one interior.

The soft top mechanism is built of parallel three-part magnesium rails with six lateral bows. When the soft top is open, it is covered by the soft top cover and stored in a space between the rear seat and the luggage compartment.

The soft top is opened and closed using a hydraulic system controlled by the STC (Soft Top Control).

Replace the switch that controls the soft top

Pull out the 2 oval covers for the interior motion detector and behind them you will see 2 torx screws, remove the screws. Then pull the top latch housing away and disconnect the electrical connector.----------

The switch is held in place with 2 round clips. Pry the clips off and then the switch comes off. You cannot reuse the clips so buy them when you buy the switch.-------
See the image of clips. The 2 clips that hold the switch in place. helpmech_122.jpg

My '99 93 saab conert top wont go down. i hear the motor running, but the back doesnt lift up to allow the storage compartment to open. the sid reads check soft top storage...which i did.

most likely the top pistons start to leak and the motor can create enough pressure to actually lift the top back to go in the storage area... i would let the tonuea cover lift open then get out the car and look around to see for fluid residue.. if not and there are no leaks.. possible the seals in the pump it self has gone out.. and the motor is still trying to pump... the pump and motor is located behind the rear seat under the small plastic panel/.

1999, 93 convertible top starts to open or close sid beeps.

sounds like somethings preventing it from closing properly. Check it well worst case you need a new convertable module. Cost money but better then buying a new top

Convertible top acting up

There are a number of known issues affecting the 9-3 convertible top. TSB 811-1989 describes a problem and fix for the cables to the lock for the top cover.
TSB 811-2101 refers to the jamming of the top cover due to a deformed hinge and provides the fix for this.
TSB 811-2160 deals with instances where the first bow hits the top cover while the top is opening, due to a deformed shear pin, and provides that repair procedure.
Where the soft top cannot be operated or it stops in mid-operation, the SID displays the message CHECK
SOFT TOP COVER, and the following diagnostic trouble codes are be generated: B2025, B2026, B2030, B2031, refer to TSB 811-2236.
Any of these four problems can result in the top cover failing to open and close properly, and can interrupt the smooth operation of the opening and closing of the top.
Finally, the top may somehow have otherwise become out of sync and this does indeed require a Tech 2 diagnostic scan and programming tool to correct. All Saab dealerships have this tool, and an increasing number of independent shops that do appreciable work on Saabs are so equipped now.
