Fit a new altenator and not a secondhand one from the scrappers also check the big block connector and fuses in front of the battery as in the uk they get wet and corrode ,this is where the altenator feed runs from ,try disconnecting the big wire and flashing it to see if it sparks ??quickest way to test for charging is to start car and then disconnect battery ..if it stops its not charging.quick load test for altenator speed up engine too 2000 rpm then disconnect battery and turn everything on if angine stops the altenator is not pushing out enough voltage....right anyone seen a nice mk4 zodiac executive for me ??

What is the tappet gap [exh and inl] on ford escort 55 van deisel 1997 [r] thanks

ford endure engine --- brilliant motors 12 th inlet 15 exhaust will suffice ,now if it was a D series even better still or a 2.4 yorkie transit ,remember when the first transits come out with a V4 2 litre engine ,they could outrun the police cars at the time ,they made an ideal bank raid tool not that i ever done anything like that i just tuned them up

Problem with my heater on my escort van

try putting a 12v feed to the heater fan, if it works, you have a problem with your wiring, if it doesnt work, your blower is faulty.

hope this helps.

Starting me van.....

Hi
I had the same sort of problem, i found that the battery was low, the clicking could be the glow plug relay, as the speedo is electronic, it will flick over to full speed and back down again. Give the battery a good charge, and see if this helps

Escort van 55 blower heater does not blow at all

I had this problem on my '98 Ford Escort ZX2.
It did not need a new blower but a $15 Blower Motor Resistor.  The wires and connectors rusted out.

1999 ford escort zx2 alternator works brand new battery but battery isnt charging !

Stecorbett:

May I suggest that you drive your car to one of the major auto stores and they can and will check your alternator for you to make sure it is good/bad.These places like AutoZone do this all the time. They do not charge for the check out. (Of course they are hoping that if you need a part you will buy it from them.

One other suggestion. If you do need a new alternator, get a rebuilt one. It is cheaper and most always comes with a warranty.

Hope this helps Good luck Loringh PS please take a moment to give me a rating

Clutch

some of these are difficult to do where an autoadjuster is used, quicker and easier to use an official ford garage who have a big book with all the times in it and often you are only charged for the time charged in the book but watch out for the golden egg, this is where you are charged for lots of parts that didnt need changing just to make up for an awkard job thats un-economic for the dealer so extra parts are fitted that didnt need changing just to make up for the shortfall in labour charge.
