ASTRA ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS)
The Vauxhall Astra ABS warning light will illuminate yellow for a few seconds after the ignition has been started to self-check. The system will be operational when the light extinguishes. If the ABS light does not extinguish after starting the car or comes on whilst driving, this signifies a fault with the ABS system. Brakes will still operate although stability may be compromised on certain road surfaces. Take it to your mechanic to see if it needs to be serviced.

1. Replace the fuel filter; and

2. Check the operation of the electric fuel pump.

Then retest to see if the problem recurs.

I would start with checking the computer for trouble codes.
Sounds like a bad connection in the dash wiring or key switch, but the trouble code might steer you in the right direction.

Sounds like the security system is cutting the injectors off . Is the security light flashing or is it solid.

These warning lights are often on due only to bad sensors and not due to bad systems. If your ABS brakes still pump themselves, for instance, you Antilock brakes are still working even tho the light is on. Whenever the check engine light is on it means that you will get error code messages about what the problems are by scanning the car's computer. If you have an AAMCO repair shop nearby drive there as they will scan your computer for free. Some auto parts stores also scan for free so call around. J.

O2 sensor will most definitely NOT cause an engine to die

Could be a little thing's, security system issue, fuel issue or a EGR or Throttle senser issue.
