Rough Diamond or Horror ?Thanks in anticipation of anyone's advice, Chris.

yes, its inside fuel tank, some models have a cap into frame over tank
SOURCE: 89 C4 911 gauges reading incorrectly?
These cars are funky and this is normal...gauges on all of the earlier cars are for general reference...checking the oil level manually while the car is running and warmed up is the most proper way to do this...generally speaking, your pressure should drop as the car warms up, but still reach 5 bar on full accelleration (928's have the same gauge). The oil level gauge will actually increase as the car warms up...the difference can be dramatic.

sounds like moisture is getting in the way of your spark ,how old are the plugleads, dist cap etc,all get affected by water as they get older.
SOURCE: Hi,
no major issues to my knowledge. the carerra always reminded me of a highly modified v.w. with only 34.000 miles that car is just broke in. but, before you lay down 29gs. take it for a test run over to a reputable mechanic. to have checked out. if given a clean bill of health. go for it. just give it regular maintain. and you should be good to go for another few hundred thow miles or so..good day

either the expansion tank is just cracked or there is a head gasket problem.
