i dought it dose your horn and cruise work if not it is a clock spring

Had the same exact issues with my 2000 Diesel. Windshield seal was no good, water was getting to electronics. I replaced the windshield and all the problems stopped.

replace the speed sensor on the transfercase that should take care of this problem

transfer case selector switch or equivlent to is bad or connectors to the switch is bad dose it do only when it rain or moisture underneath.

replace the rear speed sensor located at the top of the rear axle, your local FORD dealer will have them in stock.

rear speed sensor 8mm bolt at rear of tranny or in transfer case if rwd

Same problem with my '99 Super Duty. The speedometer was also malfunctioning. Replaced the ABS sensor mounted on the rear transaxle. Costs approx. $30 and fixed the problem.

abs light on as well? even tho you changed the speed sensor did you clean the contacts really well? i had the same problem i replaced the sensor and nothing.... then found out the contacts were corroded took the sensor back off and cleaned the contacts. works like a charm! try that and let us know if that helps.
