Hi I had a problem with the ignition light staying on. Traced to a broken wire in the loom to the alternator , approx 15cm away from alternator plug. Check all 3 wires for continuity to the big plug behind the ignition coil area.

Hi Adrian, Have a diagnostic scan carried out to pin point the area of the problem. When the 'engine check' becomes illuminated it is indicating an electronic management problem. It could be related to a defective ignition coil or coils or a defective camshaft or crankshaft sensor. Take it for a scan. Regards John

this means there is a problem in the brake system of the car and u should seek service from a dealer or qualified brake shop. here is a copied section of your owners manual about the light.

Brake system warning
Momentarily illuminates when the
ignition is turned to the RUN
position to ensure the circuit is
functional. Also illuminates if the
parking brake is engaged. If the
brake warning lamp does not illuminate at these times, or remains on
after releasing the parking brake, seek service immediately.
One of the following conditions may exist:

well maybe u don't have a manual, so here is the difinition from the owners manual.
Low tire pressure warning (if
equipped):
Illuminates when your
tire pressure is low. If the light
remains ON at start up or while
driving, the tire pressure should be
checked. Refer to Inflating Your Tires in the Tires, Wheels and
Loading

illuminate for 3 seconds to ensure the bulb is working. If the light does
not turn ON, have the system inspected by your authorized dealer. For
more information on this system, refer to Understanding Your Tire
Pressure Monitoring System
in the Tires, Wheels and Loading
