1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera fuel pump problems

My 90 Oldsmobile will run and start putting and getting ready to die on me constantly. The person who sold me the car told me that I was going to need a fuel pump pretty soon so I'm almost 80-90% sure that's the problem. But the thing is that I don't know whether or not the fuel pump is in the gas tank or not. What should I do?

What makes the fuel pump not kick on on a 92 Oldsmobile Cutlass

There is a red wire close to the battery in the front. It's not connected to anything. Apply positive voltage and that will run your pump for testing purposes.

Need to have your fuel pressure checked just because you can hear the pump going on doesn't mean it's running at adequate pressure

Fuel pump won.t pump were is the pump located in gas tank any way to prime carbarator

take the intake tube off the throttle body and spray your starting fluid in there. if it starts then dies, its your fuel pump. it could also be the pump relay, or inertia switch, aka emergency shut-off switch

1990 CUTLASS CIERA,DIED ONE DAY,CHANGED FUEL PUMP,FUEL FILTER,STARTED,RAN,IDLED,BUT WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS HARD IT JUST DIES.WILL START BACK UP,AND THEN THE SAME THING ,STEP DOWN,BOGS THEN DIES,NOW WONT...

sometimes the tank decomposes from the inside flaking off and clogging filters, pumps, etc. always a good idea to completly remove tank and flush to check for same when changing the fuel pump. if that's your problem, you will need a new gas tank

How do I troubleshoot ''no spark'' problem with my 90 cutlass ciera

if it has a distributor, check to see if it has power when you turn the key to the on position. theres a couple of wires back there, i think its three. one of them should be supplied with 12v when you turn the key, the same goes if its only two wires, one needs to be powered. without power to the distributor, no power "distributed" to spark plugs.

How to bleed brake lines for a 1990 oldsmobile cutlass ciera

Two people, one to pump the peddal and one to open and close the bleeder valve....

Person 1 pumps the peddal 5-6 times, then holds the peddal, while person 2 opens the valve till the peddal hits the floor, then person 2 closes the valve.

you start on the Passenger rear and do this till you get no air and only fluid, then repete process on Drivers rear, then Passenger front, the Drivers front...

Make sure valve is closed when pumping or realsing the peddal, as this will allow air into the system.

Check fluid level after each wheel to ensure you don't run empty during operation.
