I have a MSD ready to run distributor right out the box, this is the second one sent to me by MSD, the problem is that it won't start, the wiring is verified properly by two mechanics. I put the old stock one and it starts right away....I need help on what it could be...note: it doesn't distribute a strong constant sparx, I feel its an electrical issue and not the MSD

I have exactly the same problem. Distributor has been checked by both supplier and Ignition Services and no problem.
The 390 fires but seems like the timing is out as fires and blows back through the carby. It will not start. Have double checked firing order, plug leads, changed coil from Blaster 2 back to Pertonix Ignitor 2 but it will no
Put the original Pertronix and Ignitor 2 coil back in and it fires up sweetly straight away.
Just cannot work out what the problem is?
Has full 12 volt plus to coil.
Distributor put in at TDC as per the original. Marked original distributor position, rotoe, cap leads etc as per Pertronix and all compares exactly same.
Both distributor leads set same as per firing order.

    Any thoughts?

What exactly are you trying to fix? I use the stock type 3-wire distributor in my 68 Mustang and use an MSD 6AL box with a Blaster II coil. What's your truck doing? Check for vacuum leak at intake manifold or bad fuel pump relay or have fuel pressure checked to see if fuel pump is working properly 40-45 psi it should be pumping

Do you leave distributor hooked up to factory ignition box when running a msd box

No. The MSD box takes the place of the Ford ignition module (duraspark II most likely).

Need hei distributor wiring diagram

That distributor is an easy one. You need to connect the harness attached to the distributor housing to the cap. There is a marking on the cap that says "Batt" Connect that to the hot lead from the ignition switch that is on (with 12V present) and off with switch off. Likely the connector and wire are still in the engine compartment somewhere near the distributor. The other lead connection is marked "tach" you don't need to connect it anywhere but can attach a hand held or on dash tachometer to it.
If you get no spark from the distributor, either the module inside it is bad (no test for that. they are either good or bad) or one of the wires coming from the pickup coil that attach to the module has broken (common on those). (assuming good or new cap, rotor and coil).
It's a very simple and reliable distributor. In fact I'm using one on a 305 Monte Carlo racemobile right now. (with MSD coil, cap and rotor)!!!

Wiring an hei distributor

You shouldn't need a spark box because thee coil is located in the dist. cap. You need to run a 12v switched power source to the side of the dist. cap that is marked dist. if it isn't maked it is the term. that is on the front right of the conector pad. the one on the left is for hooking up a tach.
