2008 Chevy Impala. Trying to bypass the A/C compressor a 08 Impala.

You just remove the AC compressor and replace it with an AC Bypass Pulley. The belt and routing remains the same.

Serpentine belt diagram for a 2003 Chevy unpalatable 4.3

Pop the hood of the car and locate the serpentine belt routing diagram. The diagram on the 2003 Chevrolet Impala is on top of the fan shroud. The diagram will be a picture of all of the accessory pulleys and how the serpentine belt is routed among the pulleys. This diagram will give you the exact direction for routing the new belt onto the pulleys. If you cannot find a serpentine belt routing diagram, take a notepad and pen and draw out the exact routing diagram of the old belt across the pulleys.

  • 2 Locate the serpentine belt tensioner. It is located below the alternator on the left front side of the engine. The tensioner on the 3.4 liter, 3.5 liter and the 3.9 liter engines will require a 3/8 ratchet to release the belt tensioner. The 3.8 liter engine will require a ratchet and a 15 mm socket for the belt tensioner. Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise to loosen and remove the belt from the belt tensioner pulley.
  • 3 Slide the old belt from the belt tensioner pulley. Remove the belt from the remaining pulleys and pull the belt from the engine compartment.
  • 4 Route the new belt across the crankshaft pulley first. The crankshaft pulley is the big pulley on the bottom of the engine in the center. Then route the serpentine belt across the remaining pulleys as directed by the serpentine belt routing diagram. Leave the belt tensioner pulley for last.
  • 5 Rotate the belt tensioner clockwise again to relieve the tension and slide the new belt across the top of the belt tensioner pulley. Release the belt tensioner and the belt will tighten up as the tensioner applies pressure to the belt. Make sure the new belt is properly seated in all the pulleys.
  • 6 Crank the engine and inspect the belt again to make sure that it stays seated in the pulleys.

HOW DO YOU PUT A SURPERTINE BELT ON A 2008 DODGE AVENGER

Surpentine belts have a automatic belt tensioner. You can identify it easily. It will have a wheel attached to an arm which goes to and is mounted to the front of the engine. This automatic tensioner moves. Look on the front portion of the wheel connection to the arm. Is there a square 1/2-inch cavity? A 1/2-inch ratchet or breaker bar or surpentine belt remover bar can be inserted. Pull or Push this rotating it Up or Down (DON'T FORCE IT) Move it only inthe Direction it will move.
The Belt Diagram should be located on the underside of the hood or on the covering near the radiator.

    How to replace surpentine belt

Unless you have a little experience working on cars this could be tough. There should be a picture of the belt routing somewhere under the hood. The tricky part is the tensioner, it has to be pulled up to get the old belt off and the new one on. It should have a square hole in it, I use a 3/8 drive long handled breaker bar to fit in the hole and pull up on the tensioner.Have patients and good luck.

    Alternator belt

Hi there. If the belt is frayed I would replace it or it probably wont last long. Under your hood should be a belt routing diagram that shows exactly how the serpentine belt has to be routed. Start at the bottom and try to end at the top by the alternator when routing. You have to depress the belt tensioner by placing a wrench on it and rotating it back to get the last bit of play you will need in the belt to get it over the alternator pulley. Its hard to push because its spring loaded so its easier to have a buddy slip the belt on the last pulley well you hold the tensioner back. Just trying to remember here, but I think the belt tensioner is pushed counter clockwise to release and is a 13, or 15 mm wrench. Hope this helps.
