Check filter. If there is fuel at the filter then it sounds like you have got a bad pump. I have had this happen more than once.

Testimonial: "thank you for your help. it turned out to be pump.it would pump when out of tank, but not under load.it needed to make 60 psi."

1979 dodge truck not pulling any fuel. Already replaced fuel pump and still won't start unless u put fuel in the carb.

remove the lift pump and make sure its not on the back of the cam ,it will never work like this ,then remove the pipe from the carb end and try putting some fuel down it to prime and wet the valves inside the pump ,if that doesnt work check for a porous pipe froim the tank to the metal pipe that runs to the pump ,if that doesnt work then look inside the tank ?

I have a 94 plymouth voyager i had to replace the waterpump and fuel pump now it wont start it cranks over but wont start any ideas ??

Hi phcr7566...

Disconnect your fuel line from your carburator and put a container to catch the fuel as you crank your engine...
You are doing this to make sure you are getting fuel to the carb from the new fuel pump you installed...because you might be "air bound"...not allowing the fuel pump to pump fuel to the carb.If your getting fuel to the carb, them make sure the float in the carb is not stuck and not allowing any fuel to get to the engine.

289 2 barrel with new fuel pump. gas will not stay in the fuel line after the car sits even for a few minutes. Has to be pumped back up into the filter and carb. by cranking at least 20 times.

Even if that was true, the car would run for 20 seconds without any fuel in the line, because the carb would have gas in the bowl. Why was the fuel pump replaced? How do you know theres no gas in the line? The check valve in the fuel pump should keep fuel from going backwards into the tank. The carb should hold gas, if not, find out why.

1984 corvette fuel solenoid

unfortunatly you are going to have to run new power and a new pump. a fuel injection pump runs 30 psi minimum some of them quite a lot higher than that. a carb cannot have more than 7psi without bypassing the float in it and overflowing the carb with fuel. when going to a carb you will have to get a low pressure fuel pump and completely rerun the fuel system
