Tip & How-To about 1992 Jeep Cherokee Sport

Locating horn relays for 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo

I burned out the relays for my horn and initially thought it was just the low horn, because my high horn would work. But after swapping in used horns from the junkyard and not getting a response, I went searching for the relays. I didn't know what I was looking for because my unhelpful Haynes manual did not clarify where to look, and the wiring schematic is useless at best. Although I'm glad they took the time to explain where my speaker wires are.
Anyhow, some websites say that it's a 3 prong relay, others' say it's 2. Well I kept hitting the horn button and could hear the clicks. I located the 2 relays to the right of the steering wheel, bolted up to a black bracket which is screwed to the lower dash with two screws. The relays have these numbers on them, on separate lines. 56006709/50732/116182. The pin outs on back have 30, 85,86, 87,87. The relays are black and they don't say horn relay but with them disconnected, I don't hear any clicking when I hit the horn button.
If you need to replace your horns, there is a flat style nut that holds the horn to the bracket, and the bolt that holds the bracket to the chassis is 1/2", but for all I know it's metric like the rest, I just found a 1/2" wrench easier to use. You can access the horns from underneath the Jeep by pulling back the flap that is underneath it. It's part of the fenderwell innercover, but all you need to do is tug at it towards the tire.

Car horn wont work. Dont hear the relay clicking. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If the fuse blew, most likely the new one you installed also blew. Check it again. You have a short somewhere. Double check all the wires you did while installing the horn button.

I have a 2000 ford escort coupe and the horn stopped working. I checked the fuse and it is blown. Put in a new fuse, the horn just makes a low screeching noise constant. There is an alarm on the car, but it is off. However, the lock on the passenger side does try and lock and unlock automatically as you get in and out, but it is hung so it just vibrates. Any thoughts on how to fix the horn?

Horn not working

or it is the horn, and that has gone bad. Could also be low voltage getting to the horn.
You should have a relay separate from the fuse for it.
Find that relay and swap it with another one of the same size.
like, if the power windows or headlights are the same part number for the relay, just switch them for the test.
if the relay is not the problem, and the horn itself is a no go, the problem could be in the steering wheel/horn ring. under the airbag.

hope this puts you on the right track

M3 convertible horn

you will need some help , but unplug the horn and then depress the horn inside the car and you will be hable to hear a clicking noise, either inside the car or in the engine comparment, have some one locate the noise while you keep depresing the horn on and of to get it ti click on/off
and other thing there is many cars with only one horn make sure to try contacting the dealer and ask for service department and ask for it, you should be hable to do it by phone using yellow pages, or getting the phone number at by calling 411

also when you locate the clicking noise thats the horn relay
i will apreciate the feedback thank you
