Pickup coil?

sounds like you need to clean out the carb. or you have the wrong gap on the spark plugs. having to jump start it i would start with the spark plugs gap. gap open to much will take a bit of starting. and when engine is at running temp. it use less fuel and the spark plug gap gets bigger. until there is no spark or not a good one to keep engine running.

My honda civic has problems starting up somthimes

The first thing that needs to happen is to determine which SYSTEM is causing the problem. Is it the FUEL system or is it the IGNITION system? The symptoms you are describing could be caused by either. The easiest way to check the ignition system is to pull one of the spark plug wires and check for spark when the engine is refusing to start. If there is no spark, you will probably have to replace your distributor (Very common problem with Hondas). If you can cycle the key ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON, CRANK - and it starts right up, then you are most likely losing the pressure off of you injector rails during a hot soak (shutting the engine off when it is hot). This can be caused by a bad fuel pressure regulator or a faulty fuel pump check valve. This can be verified by performing fuel pressure tests.

No power won't hold idle

stalls. (hot engine, cold engine, both?)_what engine of the many.? lost engine power. sure that will stall any motor. ever tune it up r, or do the 60k mile service points, EVER? if car was serviced, we can then say Stalls. 1: lost 12vdc to EFI and spark , did dash lamps all go dead at stall. can you save the stall with a fast right foot. (big clue there !!!) 2: lost compression hot. (guage it) 3: lost spark. (tests) 4: lost fueling, or floods more simple tests, ask if not known. 5: EGR main valve stuck wide open. 6: ISC stuck closed but will not stop power, or fast right foot. lost fueling can be just the skippped, 60k fuel fuilter swap.

Car startts fine. everyday but 1 day it doesn't start but then start

ever heard of a tune up? every 60kmiles, in your opr. guide, read it. ok, take the simple test? 1: it cranks robustly (300rpm is good speed) 2: it cranks but dont start (how can this be a bad starter , troy? my wild guess, is op means #2 and if true. its a no start engine. and can be 1 of 3 things. 1: low compression. You never said, starts cold or hot. some times compression can be very low hot. so........... a comprssion guage works here and is dirt cheap.. $20 150PSI min warm. or hot. 2: dead or weak spark, on 1 or more cylinders. cost , one $1.49 new tests spark plug. test all 4 cylinders oldest test on mother earth for 100years now..... google it. 3: bad fueling. (not my order?) too much or too little. A: if the sparks tips are soaking in gas with new spark plugs and good fat spark then the engine is flooding read the opr guide 1 more time it says what to do you crank at W.0.T. (wide open throttle) this is a magic ECU trick it cuts all fuel WOT. allowing the injectors to cut fuel and clear said flooding condtion. ok say the spark tips are dry, bone dry. you then introduce test fuel. watch scotty do is magic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=064Ilsz8Fzg&NR=1&feature=fvwp (ood related issues) 1: EGR stuck open, clean it, so it can do that , it loves to. 2: iSC stuck closed, (no air to start car) the opr, guide tells you (suspecting #2) to add 10% gas pedal. start now every time, bingo malfing ISC. that dont mean to replace it , it cleans up just like a EGR main valve. rich boys replace, us sand crabs clean.

Car turn over but wont start

cranks , no start. classic. no starts 99% factor. is 1: engine compression weak or dead x4 (timing belt snapped?) 2: lost spark check spark, (google it 10000000 hits) 3: lost fuel ing, or its flooding. if spark is good, and the spark tips are dry, try test fuel. spray test fuel in to the induction path and see if engine runs for 3 second/

Continous blown fuse

the fuse , blowing is for 2 reasons1: wrong fuse. (too small, do not put too big in, use right size.2: dead short on this power line.the fuse prevented the FIRE.what to do? well, look at the fusethen look in the FSM for this electrical page, 1 of 50 pages.for radio.then look at the output side of fuse, that goes to the radio.at any point alone this wire and the radio bad.can be a dead short to ground, look for DAMAGE, if the radio was hacked into car, id look there first.if you need better help, tell me exactly what fues blew, the marking on box, or the label for this fuse, , not went dead.ive been around the block, so know radios are 1/2 time wired wrong.fuse 32, 7.5amps runs the radio and ECU. (page 23-52 in FSM)white-blue feed wire, (this is shorting if car is still wired STOCK)all comments USA cars, other countries use different wiring and colors, so, state country.;last , page 196, FSM radio pagethere are 3 fuses for the radio, which one blows>?fuse 23,32,39?unplug the radio, does this stop blowing fuses?if radio is not stock, say so.. still have that classic Cassette?91 is a transition year, big changes, the early car is quite different.on the early , the radio fuse is fuse 12. (15amp)and runs a vast number of things.clockinterior lampscig light, (remove it)stereoand ICU.any can short. finding it can be harder on early hondas.i use an ampclamp meter, to find all shorts. ever seen one?now power windows, in early 91 its use a different fusefuse 20/21.on later car. 91+windows is fuse 14,36 and 39do you have and FSM?do you know how to read schematics?if not, then all you can do is unplug things, and pray you find it.or ask any ASE mechanic to find it. all can. easy.we use and ammeter. we have a test fuse that wires in and ammeter, to monitor current.we then bang the radio and harness, parked, in shop and find who is shorting, in cars, the one thing to learn, is usually 1 fuse runs many things.to see that, open the FSM and turn to the Distribution page.its all there. in B/W.
