1990 Chevrolet K2500 - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I have an 1989 chevy
It sounds like you may have a bad fuel pressure regulator. The fuel pressure regulator is in the throttle body housing and the throttle body in your truck works best at 13psi to 15psi, Any other setting will cause problems. Check the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator at the throttle body and check the fuel pressure at the shredder valve. The way the throttle body works is for the first 75% of the throttle, the ecm uses the signal form the O2 sensors to control the air fuel ratio and tries to keep it to 14.7:1 but at full throttle it by pass the O2 sensor signal and runs the engine richer and advances the timing so you can drive with wings like red bull. The Map sensor then takes over to promote the engine to run richer so you don't run lean and detonation occurs. If there is a problem with your throttle body position sensor, map sensor. and fuel pressure regulator, then at WOT (skinny peddle down) you may be running to rich. The other thing to is if your fuel pressure drops at WOT you'll get a lean condition and then you'll have detonation ( Knocking) and the timing will be turned down to keep detonation from occurring again and that may be the cause if your check engine light too. First and easiest thing to do is change the fuel filter and add fuel injector cleaner to you gas tank, buy a throttle body cleaner and clean your throttle body to make sure you don't have varnish build up around the throttle body, just follow the instruction on the can. Throttle body cleaner not carb cleaner. Start with that and i hope we don't have to do any more to get your truck running like a rocket. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help.
No fuel at tbi
Check the relay to your fuel pump to make sure the pump is getting power. Check the fuel pressure to make sure the pump is putting out enough presure. Change the Fuel filter if everything is ok. The only other thing i can think of is the fuel injector it self is not getting power. Good luck.
Wont go into reverse and doesnt go into 3rd unless i let off gas
It sounds like you broke the sun gear shell in the transmission. This is real common on 4L60E. The transmission will have to be disassembled to fix it. If this is what is wrong it will have no reverse and hold 1st till about 30 and then skip 2nd, right to 3rd. Then never shift in to 4th.
1989 Chevy Truck 350 Stalled Wont Start After I filled Gas Fuel
You need to check the fuel pressure to the TBI. I just fought one which was doing the same thing. I pulled the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump. It turned out to be the short hose from the fuel pump to the steel line coming out of the tank. It had a split in it so I wasn't getting enough fuel pressure. Some places show two pumps available. One you can pull the unit and replace just the pump. The other the pump and sender are all one unit. Hopefully you have the first one. The second is around $300.
The easiest way to get to the top of the tank is to pull the front 6 bolts mounting the bed and loosen the back two. Take the three screws from the filler neck and unhook the rear axle vent tube. You can then take an engine hoist and lift the front of the box. You can get right to the pump and gauge assemble in the top of the tank. Most times, this works easier than emptying the fuel tank and removing it.
Spark plug broke in head. How do I remove it?
1] place block of wood over area where plug broke off and turn egine over to remove the electrode from the plug.
2} get an easy out or a right hand drill bit if you are using a drill bit dip it in wheel bearing greese to pick up debris.
3] keep the drill bit centre and stright.
4}finally good luck
5} if you have welder weld a nut on the end on the inside and remove quickly. while still hot.
No power
fuseable link or starter selonoid
Rust through 2008 silverado
i would go back to the dealer and talk it out with them and see whats going on with it. they maybe be able to fix it or put you in a different truck
Brake lights stay on after releasing peddle
buy a can of silacone oil and spray it up under and behind the brake pedal its most likly the small switch sticking do not spray front of pedal you could cover this with an old rag to prevent overspray this will solve your problem.adrian
1989 Chevy K2500 - idles fine but stalls out when put into drive.
Sounds like the injectors may be bad or just really dirty. You say that the truck is only used as a plow truck, so I would assume that it sits alot. If you dont add any fuel stabilizer to the tank, the fuel will start to degrade and the will gum up your injectors. One thing you can do is to pull the air cleaner assembly off and look at the injectors while the truck is running. Look at the bottom of the injectors while it is running. The injectors shouldbe spraying fuel with a fan spray of fine mist. If you see any drips of fuel in the this fine mist, that injector is at least dirty or on its way out. I would recommend that you change your fuel filter and then get some fresh fuel and the purchase some Seafoam fuel injector cleaner from your local parts store. Dont mess around with anything else. GET SEAFOAM. If it is in a plastic bottle it is not strong enough to do anything. Seafoam is in a metal can. Dump the seafoam in and run the truck as much as you can. This will help clean out the injectors.
I have a 1989 GMC
Sounds like you have leaking injectors. take the air cleaner assembly off and watch the injectors while the truck is running. If you see any drips of fuel coming from the injectors, the are at least dirty or possibly bad. I would recommend running some Seafoam injector cleaner through your fuel system and see if that helps.
The other thing to think about is the coil itself. Coils are notorious for working when they are cold, but then qutting when hot.
Recommended Oil Type
10W-30W oil, at that many miles check the brakes, air filter, tire pressure and all fuid levels, also have it put on a rack and check for any serious oil leaks at engine, trans, and rear axle. do u have any service records? the plugs and fuel filter should have been changed by now.
1995 Chevorlet K2500 - When left turn signal is engaged with the lights off, dash, all exterior turn signals, and cab roof lights flash with it. If I unplug my headlight harness, it stops doing this.
Based on the symptoms you described, it seems like there may be a short circuit in the wiring or a problem with the headlight harness. When you unplug the headlight harness and the issue stops, it suggests that there may be a problem with the wiring or a component in that harness.
One possible cause could be a faulty turn signal switch. The turn signal switch controls the operation of the turn signals and can cause strange behavior if it is malfunctioning. It may be worth checking the switch to see if it is causing the issue.
Another possible cause could be a short circuit in the wiring. A short circuit can cause electrical current to flow in unexpected ways, leading to unexpected behavior like what you're experiencing. It may be worth inspecting the wiring for any signs of damage, such as frayed or exposed wires.
If neither of these solutions help, it may be worth consulting with a mechanic or electrician who has experience troubleshooting electrical issues in vehicles. They may be able to diagnose the issue more accurately and suggest a solution.
Runs rough accelerating
try checking the wiring for broken or worn though .use a ohms meter to see if power wires earth out etc.
