How much oil does the front axle take on my 1990

well you fill front pig untill it comes out the fill hole, if i remember it was like 3 qts. I gave my 90 sierra to my dad about 4 yrs ago and dont remember what the 4x4 acted like. I thought it had the floor shift and direct linkage to transfercase. does yours have manual hubs being a 2500? if so its possible the hub grease is to thick and when it gets cold it is to stiff to let the gears mesh.

Do you mean it's running when the engine is not running, key off? If so I've never heard of that happening. If you mean key on engine off that's common in older vehicles the check valve in the fuel pump wears out and causes continous pump running. Normally it's not a problem. Hope this helps.

Have you cleaned your throttle body? You can use a carb cleaner but tb cleaner is best. It doesn't take long and will improve the performance if it hasn't been cleaned. Should be cleaned about once a year depending on how many miles you drive.

1990 chev K2500 5.7 TBI

Fuel injection needs 20-30 pound pressure to fire the injectors. Try to check pressure before filter. If its low your pump is no good. If its ok then you have pressure drop after the filter. Filter on backwards or clogged.

Whats the stall rate for a torque convertor for a

Hi.
Good question as many stall are about 3000+ RPM. GM used many different speeds and the one associated with your particular truck is associated with your VIN NUMBER. SO -
Take down the VIN # - go to the DEALER = [ much friendlier in person] - ask them which transmission you have AND - what is the STALL SPEED.

Good Luck

I need to replace my

Hello Friend:

#1) Ok first Disconnect your neg. Battery Cable

#2) Now Tag the wires going to the Coil and at where they were on the Coil and the Coil wire to Distributor.,Just so you don't cross them.

#3) Now Theres mounting bolts uncoil bracket ,Probally 1/2" or 9/16th Wrench. After you have Removed the Coil & Bracket ,If this is the Factory Coil it will have RIVETS holding the Coil to the Bracket.

#4) You'll need to Drill out the Rivets that are holding in the Bad coil, When you by a New Coil some Brands have 2-Screws inside the New Coil box,To secure the New Coil in the Bracket. If NOT then you'll have to by a Couple Screws.

#5) now just Reverse the Removal instructions and your in Business. DO make sure the wires you Tagged or Marked go back at the same place on the NEW Coil.

I need to replace an inner CV boot on a '89 Chevy

You need to remove the shaft to do a good job (I don't recommend the split boots). Once the shaft is out, I usually just replace the whole thing, as the difference in price between CV joints and shats is small compared to the labor of taking the CV off the axle. To change the shaft, you have to separate the lower ball joint and possibly the tie rod end as well. Remove the axle nut. Then you swing the hub assy away from the trans and pull the axle out of the hub. Next, put a drain pan under the trans in case it leaks a little with the axle out. Pull the axle straight out of the trans and reverse procedure to reinstall.

Blows fuses when you put it in 4 wheel dr 1990

The only electrical items I can think of that are involved in 4wd engagement on this truck would be the electronic solenoid that engages the front hub or the lights on the floor to show it is in 4wd. It is also possibly tied into the abs if you have 4 wheel ABS.

Crawl under the truck on the front, look around the bottom of the differential. You should see a cylendrical part screwed into the differential going parallel with the axles. You should be able to unplug the connector here and see if it still blows the fuse when you try to engage it. If no blown fuses, then I'm guessing it is that sensor. You should be able to put power to that sensor after you pull it to see if it moves in and out.

I have a 1988 chevy truck and it will not start

Is the engine turning over and just not starting? Go back to basics, you need fuel, fire, compression, and proper timing to get it to start. Check the fuel pump, do you hear it run when you turn the key on? Do you have fuel pressure, if so check for spark at the spark plugs, if you have spark try turning the engine over and have a buddy spray some starting fluid in the throttle body, if it tries to start then you have a fuel problem. If no fire check dist module, ign coil and coil wire.
