pcv valve is not on valve cover. where is it?
The PCV valve on the KA24E 4-cylinder is located in front of the oil filter and above the alternator. It points to the rear of the engine.
You will need only two tools; a stubby 19mm open end wrench and a pair of pliers to remove the hose clamp. I did it without removing anything else. Just reach around to the right of the oil filter. It took about 15 minutes. Here is a pic:

i have 1997 nissan pickup, 4cyl. 2.4 eng.(5speed mt) with a code P0400. replaced egr valve and cleaned old carbon from line & tubing. truck ran great for 1 day,no hesitation, then eng. light came back on, same code P0400 and now a little slugggish. now i've noticed that there is no vacuum in any lines to or from egr valve. have vacuum in other lines near tb just not egr. any thoughts...? thanks
there is an EGR vacuum solenoid somwhere that controls on/off vacuum to actuate the valve. i am not to sure of the location, but follow the vacuum line back from the egr until you find a device that looks like an electrical check valve for vacuum. that is a possibilty. but then again i am a ford,chrysler guy and am just giving you an answer based on my understanding of the functuality of a vacuum egr system

Would anyone be able to tell me where I can download a wiring diagram for a Nissan Navara D22, my elderly Dad is having trouble with the lights on his pickup and he has been quoted over $600 for a workshop manual. please help. Cheers Janet

Vehicle: 1997 Nissan Hardbody 2.4L(KA24E)4 cyl. 5 speed, 211,000 miles. Motor starts fine but the idle is rough and the engine surges about every 15 seconds or so. Not always, but that's what's happening. Checked all vacuum lines, TPS, IACV-AAC(replaced), all solenoid switches, EGR, BPT valve, changed the PCV and connecting hose , checked all fuel lines for blockage(clear), injectors all check out ok, harnesses all have continuity and battery voltage present, checked the fuel pressure at idle and is: 36-38 psi(should be 34 psi), then the engine will surge(rev up) and the fuel pressure will drop to 34-35 psi(where it should be). When I pull the vacuum line off the pressure raises to 43 psi and stays there until I put the line back on then hovers at 36-38 psi then surges and the motor shakes due to the rough idle. Any thoughts?! Thanks Again!!!
ok i have the same truck my timing was off 3 teeth but mine wouldn't kick out of high idle is y mine was surging but know with timing right no vacuum leaks i cant get it below 1400 but when a vacuum turns on it almost kills my engine any thoughts i know i got a vacuum line mixed up idk were though

I have a 97 Nissan Pickup 2.4L 2WD Hardbody with a bad 5 speed transmission. Can't afford a new one and have found a few at the wrecker but they're out of a 95 and a 96. I can do the work but will either of these transmissions fit this year?
yes this will fit, model years 88-97 will fit. I would recommend the newest model you can get, as they improved internal hardware after 93. hopefully this helps

1997 Nissan pickup 2.4 head torque sequence
From repair manual for 1996 KA24E 2.4L engine:
Number bolts as follows:
Exhaust side, front to rear - 8, 6, 1, 3, 9
Intake side, front to rear - 10, 4, 2, 5, 7
Tighten bolts in numbered sequence, five steps.
Step 1 - 22 ft-lbs
Step 2 - 58 ft-lbs
Step 3 - loosen all bolts completely
Step 4 - 22 ft-lbs
Step 5 - 54-61 ft-lbs
