1999 Nissan Quest - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

seems like so many no start issues these days are caused by the the crank position sensor. it's basically a magnetic sensor that many people put too deep into the hole and it ends up getting sheared off, and then eventually corrodes, if it doesn't fail right away. other easy solutions could be a dirty battery connection. or even a dirty fuse connection. I found that to be the case in my car, i had a 150 amp fuse that was corroded and drawing too many amps from the battery and the alternator couldn't keep up so i thought it was the alternator and changed it, and the problem remained, until i found the dirty fuse, and cleaned the connections and replaced the fuse.

The maf sensor should be in airduct that goes to throttle body, three wire connector, according to diagram. It may look like picture, depending on manufacturer?

Where is the torque converter? Transmission installed in car?
If so there is often an access plate on the bottom of the bell housing to get the bolts off with an open end or box wrench. If the access plate is on the top you often have to pull the engine/transmission, release the TC bolts, then split the trans from the engine to replace the torque converter.
If you've broken the bolts and there are stubs in the TC you can try to drill them out and use an EZ-out bolt remover. OR just replace the TC.

Yes you do, the sensor is not resettable and is a one use item.

You may have a fuel pressure bleed down situation, this is caused by a defective fuel pump check valve, the valve is part of the fuel pump which is located inside the fuel tank. To confirm this have a shop hook up a special test gauge and check to see if the pump loses pressure after the engine is turned off.

Follow the other description. Things don't change much and if your handy with the tools then just be confident in what you are doing. It will only come apart and go back together one way. Sound like you won't have a problem.

If you can hear the motor running, then check under the bottom end of the wiper . There should be a nut or screw to tighten the blade to the motor.

Your engine will not run. Be careful cranking an engine with a broken timing belt as it can bend a valve with a moving piston.

Can you tape a coin or two onto the door at the spot that hits the light switch? If not, just remove the bulbs.
