Pcv

It is located on the right side of the intake plenum, on the back, but takes about 5 min. to replace, you do have a 3.5 correct? Pull off the hose, unscrew PCV, then install new PCV, re-connect hose. 10_5_2012_11_39_22_pm.jpg

1997 dodge intrepid shut off while driving down the road acts like it wants to start but wont

It's common for them to have a bad crank shaft sensor. It is located half way up the bell housing on the passenger side. It takes a 13/32 socket and a 6in extension. Remove the air intake tube and the coil pack ( same socket ) and you can get to it from the top. It just pulls out after you take out the one bolt on the bottom. The part is about $40. Hope this helps.

Cooling fans will not work

Please keep in mind the fans only run when the engine gets very warm, about 225 degrees Fahrenheit. If the engine is not overheating you have no problem. If it is the system needs to be scanned to see if the computer can turn the fans on during the active system self test.

1997 intrepid automatic transmission stuck

There are two speed sensors on the drivers side of this transmission. If your speedometer is working, replace the input sensor (closer to the front of the car). If the speedometer is not working, replace the output sensor(closer to the rear of the car). Or they cost less than 20 bucks, replace them both while you're underneath the car. They are dissimilar, so you cannot put the wrong one in the wrong place.

When i stomp on the gas the car wants to cut out.

HAVE THE ECM (COMPUTER CODE) CHECKED! IT IS PROBABLY A FAILURE OF AN IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, EGR VALVE, MAP SENSOR, OR SOME OTHER INFORMATION SENDING SENSOR. THIS WILL CAUSE THE COMPUTER TO ADJUST FOR FALSE CONDITIONS BEING SENT, OR IT IS NOT GETTING CORRECT DATA FROM THE SENSOR

Can i put a 2001 dodge intrepid half shaft on a 1997 dodge intrepid? I have both cars and trying to gut one out for another

If the two cars have similar engine/trans setups, measure the half shafts with a tape measure to compare as much as possible. If they seem to be close enough, you can probably swap them.(Sometimes, minor design changes may alter the appearance of parts, but they will still work.)
