2002 Chrysler Voyager 3.3. Transmission won't shift gears from drive?

Question edited for clarity. 'year make model' first, 'want' and 'won't' are not interchangeable words. 'won't' = 'will not'. Question moved to model category. Help and videos in the link https://www.google.com/search?q=2002+Chrysler+Voyager+3.3.+Transmission+won%27t+shift+gears+from+drive ..

Location of cooling fan relay chrysler voyager 2.8crd.

The relays on the 2001-2007 grand voyager 2.8crd are located on the back of the cross beam on the battery side of the car. The picture is of a 2.5 diesel, which has only 4 relays. I also have a 2.8crd with 5 relays, but I have not found out what the 5th relay is for. 16257rgdpwr_sgmldiag_260_1476395014-no0tf2ovzttjgxj2o232xwfu-d-0.png

Bleeding the cluch pedal

Open the slave cylinder bleeder and let it gravity feed for 5 minutes or so, then close the bleeder and have someone pump the pedal, release the bleeder to remove trapped air, repeat as needed until all the air is gone and pedal is firm with no play.

Chrysler voyager 2.5 diesel cuts

Hello again,

I commented yesterday that I had the same problem and had done some tests in an attempt to identify the cause.

I contacted a local mobile mechanic, and when I described the symptoms, explained the tests that I'd carried out, and told him of my theory that the fuel filter might be partially blocked he said, "Yes, I'm sure you're right. I've had to do 14 Voyagers in the last month with the same problem!" Hopeful that he was right, but still a bit sceptical because the car had a service less than a month ago in which the fuel filter was listed as one of the replaced parts, I called him out. He came, removed the old filter, commented that "The old filter is really dirty and doesn't look to have been replaced for at least 25,000 miles!" inserted a new filter and the car has been running perfectly since. There's a marked improvement in the way the engine's running (not really surprisingly!) and this reinforces my belief that most (but not all) garages are only interested in taking your money and not doing the work.

For anyone interested, the process of replacing the filter was relatively straight forward and I think (if I ever have this problem again) I will replace it myself. On my Voyager (2001 RHD UK spec 2.5l TD) The fuel filter is located in the rear fuel pump, situated just forwards of the rear axle, on the driver's side of the fuel tank. The filter is removed by using a spanner of about an inch. Note, once the new filter is inserted it's important to prime the engine well before starting it otherwise it will need to be bled (which is apparently a tricky job on the Voyager!) To prime the engine and get fuel through before starting it, you must turn the key in the ignition so that you hear the pump working (eventually the pump noise should stop), and repeat this several times (we did it about 10 times) before turning the key further to turn the engine over. This process makes sure that there's a constant stream of fuel through the new filter and up to the front where the engine is!

That's all the mechanic did, and it worked! Even my wife's happy (of course all things are relative!)

Hope this helps,
Richard.

Problem with electric drivers seat

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

Unfortunately, there is no manual override for the power seats. If the seat doesn't want to move, the only culprit would be:
1. Blown out fuse for the seat's motor (fuse can be found under the dashboard, simply replace the fuse to resolve the issue)
2. Disconnected motor terminal or faulty wiring for the powered seat (if this is the case, the only solution is to bring the vehicle to a mechanic or electrician)

I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

Lots of smoke is coming

Hi Emma
all normal, the voyager is fitted with an auxilary heating system, which is supposed to help warm the occupants of the car before the diesel engine actually warms up to take over, even after stopping and turning the engine off, the smoke coming from under the passenger side is the car burning off fuel from the auxilary heater (smells like kerosene) i found this to be unpleasant, especially when i open the doors to get the kids out, everyone is smoked, so i turn the heater off as i approach home, whereby any unspent fuel is burned off before you stop. so there is no need to go to a garage.
hope this has reassured you.

Ldv maxus, difficult to start, changed glows,no

Battery condition? I used to "cycle" the glow system two or three times before cranking. In other words when glow finishes, turn key off then start the glow cycle again. Get a crankcase or block heater. To warm up or "keep" warm. Glow almost never fails. But it's possible the Glow timer or connections are going. There are "Cetane" improvers that may improve cold starting. Quality of fuel you are getting? Last time Filter was changed? Really cold? and stuck. Only for emergency, not recommended. Ether cold start spray can. Spray into the air intake. You may need to open Air filter passage to spray. I knew a farmer who had an automatic ether system. Blue up the engine from over speed. So that is why you need to be careful!

2002 chrysler grand voyager i

The Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) is not going to let you run your engine without the proper key. The best thing to do is to take the entire vehicle (Tow it) to the dealer and have them program a new key for you. With a plain key, the engine will start and run for about 2 seconds then shut down. If this is repeated more than 6 times, the computer will have to be reset before even the correct key can be used. (More money)
