5.1 onkyo receiver model tx-sr304e should the output voltage measured at the speaker terminals with volume at zero be O to 20 millivolts ? Thanks Jeff G

using a voltmeter to detect DC output protection in each channel or speaker, spk, terminal, you were using a WRONG METHOD. Before DC able to come out of each spk terminal, DC protection will be triggered with all spk relays in OFF state. A spk connected to defected spk terminal will be damaged due to DC output, otherwise. Your method won't help you to locate any faulty DC output channels nor to fix DC protect in Onkyo AV amp. A special method is needed with metal caging of av amp removed. Write down your email here if you want to DIY.Besides, I've deleted the email written on SR600 Capacitor replacement on you tube.

How do I know if I need a firmware update on my Onkyo receiver?

The receiver should do that itself, but you should be able to manually check for one. Then update as needed.

How do I adjust bass and treble on my Onkyo TX-NR545 amp coupled with 2015 Jensen X-7 speakers. Sounds way too bassy and can't enjoy my music properly. Can anyone help me please?

I would assume either the basic or advanced user manuals will tell you how to do that. You can find them here: https://www.onkyousa.com/Downloads/manuals.php Scroll down to near the bottom of AV Receivers for your specific model. good luck!

Hi we have a onkyo amplifier but it does not change between input its been hardly used can you help please

No any change between inputs. Very easy to fix.
Search SR600 Capacitor replacement on you tube and send an email to me. I will tell you how to fix. Asking Onkyo to fix costs you 110USD or above. Why? They replace the related circuit board. DIY-FIX costs you less than 15USD. Whether you want to fix it, of course, depending on you.

My Onkyo tx-sr707 AV receiver

You may know by now Onkyo has severe HDMI board problems. If your unit comes on with no sound, forget about the heatsink solution. The second solution of wavesoldering the Ic's is chancy at best, and requires someone with proper soldering equipment for Surface mount flat pack ic's. I've seen a hear gun attempt blow the surrounding electrolytic capacitors out of their cans. Onkyo extended the warranties for many of their high failure boards. Check the following site to see if you qualify for the exchange/repair/replacement: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-receivers-amps-processors/1652514-onkyo-acknowledges-failed-units-extending-warrranties-until-2018-a.html.

Onkyo TX-DS494 stereo receiver won't turn on.

First, check which type of protect first.

Symptoms:
3 seconds (DC protect) OR immediately shut down (Over Current protect)

How to confirm?
1.Unplug the amp.
2.Remove the metal cover.
3.You will see a long vertically installed pre-amp board mounted next to those large power transistors fixed by 12 screws on a large aluminium heat sink.
4.Remove this long vertically installed board mounted by 2 screws.
5.With 2 screws removed, just pulling this board out and hold it with one hand.
6.Plug the amp and switch it on.
7.If your amp stays ON forever, the problem is from this long board.
8.If switch off at once, the problem is from power amp board.
Try the above- mentioned steps. If DC protect, write an email to me via searching you tube SR600 capacitor replacement. Don't be afraid.
So many people wrote to me.

If over-current protect do the
following steps
(O)unplug the amp.
(1)download DS-TX494 service manual.
(2)open the amp metal cover.
(3)measure 7 large white resistors resistance loacated next to power transistors mounted on a large heat sink with black probe touching the middle pin and red probe to first/left or third/right pin.
(4)If this 3 Pins large white colour 0.22ohm x 2 resistor is open with infinity ohms ,
(5)replace it and jot down this channel for example left surround faulty. Usually only 1 channel went faulty.
(5a)When the white resistor didn't burn, "2 channels" were damaged due to bad soldering joint of the large white resistor, however.
(5b)When this happened, time taken of shut-down due to over-current is 3 seconds NOT immediately.
(6)the two large power transistors next to this white resistor 0.22 ohms x2 should also be replaced.
(7)plug the amp
(8)switch it on
(9)if ok, troubleshooting get done
(10)if not ok
(11)replace ALL the components of this power amp channel.
(12)pre-amp section no need to check.
remember if not OK, the replaced 0.22ohm x 2 resistor and 2 power transistors maybe shorted again. Check them first. If OK, replace ALL Components in this channel except 0.22 ohm x 2 and 2 transistors. 0.22 ohm x 2 means left and middle pin 0.22 ohm as well as right and middle pin also 0.22 ohm that are 2 pieces of resistors with 0.22 ohm in a large white 3 pins resistor.

Hi! Im from Philippines and i want to ask you about my onkyo receiver. If we are going to set the volume higher, the receiver will turned off! We need your help about this problem. Thank you in advance! I'll wait for your reply.

Though you have not given us the make and model number of that I receiver if it is turning off when you power it up and turn the volume up this usually indicates a problem with the internal amplifier it most likely is damaged

Onkyo TX-SR 605 shuts of when i connect left front speaker

when i connect left front speaker it's shuts down .
That is probably due to protection caused by either
DC or over current. This means your troubleshooting is not complete.
Preform these steps.
Download SR605 service manual.
(a)unplug the amp.
(b)Connect left speaker (c)remove the vertically installed pre-amp board.
See this:
How to do?
1.Unplug the amp.
2.Remove the metal cover.
3.You will see a long vertically installed pre-amp board mounted next to those large power transistors fixed by 12 screws on a large aluminium heat sink.
4.Remove this long vertically installed board mounted by 2 screws.
5.With 2 screws removed, just pulling this board out and hold it with one hand.
(d)Plug the amp and switch it on.
(e)If your amp stays ON forever, the problem is from this long board.
(f)If switch off at once, the problem is from power amp board.
Try the above- mentioned steps to confirm DC or over-
current in left channel.
(g)For DC protection, replace ALL components on left channel of the vertical board.
(h)For over-curremt protection, replace ALL components on left channel.

Replacing ALL components on a faulty channel do not cost you too much.
