I have 2 kicker lmpulse 1x402 amps. How do you hook both in line to power 2 10" subs, 4 ohms each
It isn't wise to connect the business end of amplifiers together so if you want or need to use them together you do it at the input end.
It is better to use an active rather than a passive method, simply connecting the inputs together in parallel would work but is not recommended and the results are unpredictable. A passive splitter would be better and produce more control and predictability.
It depends what results you are looking for. Clearly it is better if each amp drives only one speaker, especially if they aren't an electrically matched pair. If the amps normally require an 8 ohm speaker it should still be acceptable to use 4 ohm loads as long as the peak input at the front end doesn't exceed half the rated maximum.
You could use one amp on each channel for stereo via a suitable preamp or you could use an active phase splitter and use the two amps as a single push-pull amplifier with two outputs or with a front end filter you could make one amp work on the bass to midrange frequencies and one sub-bass to bass frequencies.
Some of the stuff is probably commercially available but some would need to be constructed so what you need is a friendly tv engineer or an electronics enthusiast...
Will this amp power two 12" subs
Yes. The Kicker xs50 competition amp will l ! Pushs my old school autobahn aw1206t's very nicely and beats my 2 sundown sa15's senseless. Wire down to 1 ohm and bridge. People may say yeah rite. Ok. Thats ok.
Sounds like the amp is playing on full range instead of low
Sometimes the deck needs to be programmed to send only sub frequencies to the sub out. Check the manual or play with the settings. Most likely there is a way to turn it to a sub and a separate setting to change the crossover frequency.
If this is not working, there may be a problem with the Head Unit. If you have another amp in the system, try the sub out in the full range amp AT LOW VOLUME. If not you can use headphones and some alligator clips. Be careful you do not short out the output. Place one alligator on the crown of the RCA plug and one on the post. On the other side, place the crown clip to the connection on the top of the plug and the post on the tip of the plug. If this way you can see if indeed there is full range in the signal. You should here some voice, but not a lot, and a bunch of bass.
If there is too much frequency on the line after these steps then the head unit is not filtering properly and there are two things to be done. Repair or replace the unit. Or circumvent the filtering problem with either an in line RCA Filter or an electronic crossover.
Rear left channel makes my speaker pop cuts in and ou at certain settings
Swap left and right speakers. Does it stay with the speakers if so you have a blown or damaged speaker. If not then swap input cables only. If it stayed with the speaker you now know the amp has a bad channel and needs repair. If it swapped again you either have a bad cable or issue with your source unit.
Kicker kx850.4 protection light stays on know power light
Check power make sure you have solid 12 volts. Disconnect speakers, shorted speaker can cause protection mode to engage. If still in protect mode will need to repair. Kicker does out of warranty repairs on kx series amps or try T.I.P.S contact at linearpower.com. Iirc Ray @ tips was one of the engineers at kicker back when kx series was introduced.
Kicker amp 350.4 blows fuses
Check your wiring for any exposed. Make sure there are no wires touching and that you have the proper gauge wiring for that size amp. I used 4 gauge with that same amp and never had an issue.
