We have 3 options with the tv,The cheap route,replace the
capacitors.less than $15 for parts and shipping or The expensive way,Buy a
replacement power module for under $100,it's plug&play but still need to go
through the trouble to take the back off,Or The more expensive route is to pay
hour bench time for a tv repair shop if you can find one that will do
electronics work,most will replace the whole module themselves and charge at
least a 50% markup on the price of the part.

First,remove the tv stand then take the back off the tv,about 54 screws
and look everywhere for screws,especially on the sides at the input/output
connections,all the little silver screws and there's a chrome metal bracket
that needs to come off, Gently work the back off and watch for the small
control panel thats screwed to the inside of the tv,controls the
power,channel,volume,etc buttons,Not sure if it un-plugs but I just pulled the
2 screws out, Keep in mind to do all of this looking at the back of the tv
right side up/upright ,just as you watch tv from the front.



Now that the back is off there's a metal swing-arm support bracket inside
that needs to come off.From there you'll see 3 modules,follow where the power
cord plugs into the back of the tv up to the center/smaller module,Unplug all
the connectors going to it,about 4 I believe and they all only plug in 1 way so
it's hard to not be able to figure out where they go,The module will need to
come out/off the tv and onto your bench/desk to work on , Remove the outer
screws to remove the black outer cover,Once you're looking at the inside of the
power module I believe there is 4 screws holding the pcb/circuit board to the
inner aluminum box and 4 or 5 silver clips along the outer edge,all need to
come off to get the circuit board out.



Once the board is out still oriented the correct way and looking at the
upper left corner will be the two identicle capacitors that need to be
replaced,You can tell by looking at the flat top of them,if they're bad the top
will be "puffed" up,Not only are they soldered to the circuit board
but also glued to it on the top side under the capacitor so you'll need a pair
of fine point needle nose pliers or what I used is a small set of forceps which
are also available at Radio Shack or even Walmart stores,Anyway,you'll need to
dig out the white glue,I believe it's a type of hot melt glue so it's
semi-soft/pliable.



Once the glue is out of the way I took my pre-heated fine tip soldering
iron and touched the back side of the capacitors to free the solder points,On
the soldered side of the pcb board will be marked with a dotted outline circle
of where the capacitor is located, Make sure you pay attention to the stripe
location on the old and new capacitor and make sure the new capacitors go in
the same direction the old ones come out,they are polarity concious.



The new capacitors are a little taller , From here you have 2
choices,with the length of the new pins on the capacitors you could solder them
in and lay them over or push the pins through and the capacitor as close to the
board as possible which is the way I did mine, If you stand them upright then
when putting the outer cover on the module you'll need to "notch out the
corner around the new capacitors,I used a Dremel on mine just to get a clean
straight cut,It is thin enough you can use a pair of sheet metal snips on and
don't worry, The back of the tv will still fit back on,



If you get stuck somewhere in the process,shoot me another email,I'm at 1 of
our slower stations and will try to reply as quick as possible,If all else
fails I work 24 on and 48 off,
