Touchscreen phones simplify the wireless world, especially when combined with voice activation. Although making calls using voice commands was an option before touchscreens became available, the method used to set up this feature is different than it is for non-touchscreen units. It can take time to master the set of procedures that will get the feature working. Step 1 Create a voice tag. Touch "Contacts" on the today screen. This opens the list of contacts on your phone. From here, do one of three things: you can hold your finger on the desired contact and then tap the "Add Voice Tag," you can select the desired contact, tap on "Menu" and then "Add Voice Tag," or you can tap the desired contact to open their personal screen and then hit "Menu" followed by "Add Voice Tag." Step 2 Record the voice tag on your phone. Touch the phone number to which you wish to add a voice tag then touch the "Record" button. Record your voice tag for that contact. An icon will be displayed to the right of the number when the voice tag is complete. You can listen to your voice tag by touching the "Play" button on the screen or you can delete it to record a new one. Step 3 Make a voice tag for a program. Tap the "Start" button on the phone. Go to "Settings" and then the "Personal" tab followed by "Voice Speed Dial." Choose the program for the voice tag and record the voice tag in the same manner as you did for the contact. To open the program with the voice tag, tap "Start," "Programs" and then "Voice Speed Dial." Step 4 Launch a program or make a call. Make a call by tapping "Start" followed by "Programs" and then "Voice Speed Dial." You will hear a beep. Say the voice tag you recorded for the person you wish to call. You can open a program via the same procedure (by speaking the voice tag created for the program). Step 5 Check the voice tags you created. Tap on "Start," "Settings," "Personal" tab and then "Voice Speed Dial." A voice tag tab appears and displays a list of your voice tags.
Press FEATURE (above the HOLD key on old sets or the Nortel Symbol on the new sets) Then press 981 on the dial pad.
If states "Inactive when done then your voice mail system is down or the feature code was changed, either way if you do have voice mail then call your tech in to check the system right away.
With the headset on, press the call control (answer) button for
around 2 seconds to activate the voice dialing. This should prompt your
phone and you should typically hear "say a command", then you can say,
for instance, "call home". It will then confirm the command by saying
"did you say call home?" And when you answer "yes", it should start
dialing.
However, just remember that to use voice-activated dialing, your
phone and cellular service must be capable of voice-dialing and this
feature must be enabled on your phone. See your Bluetooth phone manual
for instructions. Also, here is a link below for the Explorer 200
series user guide.
You should be able to add a voice tag while editing the contact. You may also be able to simply activate voice dialing and press the voice dial button and say the name of the person and it will automatically dial for you. Try doing that.
Voice Dial: Important: Be sure your phone supports the voice dialing function and that it is activated. Record at least one voice tag. (Please refer to the instructions in your phone’s user manual.) Note: Voice dialing entries must be stored in the phone’s memory, not on the SIM card! 1. Press the Accept Button (1) for 1 second. 2. A voice dial beep will be heard on the kit to prompt the user to say the voice tag of the contact to call. 3. Say the voice tag exactly as how you recorded it. 4. The voice will be played back to you, and then the phone will dial the number automatically.
These are actually two different features. Text to Speech, and Speech to Text. If this is a cell phone or business phone that feature is provided via the cell phone provider or business phone system. Sometimes voice messaging/email/sms systems have this feature. Many cell phones have voice activate to dial for example, but Speech to Text.
