The solder on the oven relay melts eventually.
if it doesn't ruin the board, you can re-solder it, otherwise you need a new control head.

SOURCE: MAYTAG STOVE PROBLEM...NEED HELP

the broiler came on automatically??? not a sensor issue. sounds as if you have a broken wire perhaps, or a faulty control panel energizing the broil element w/o being prompted to. does it say its broiling when element comes on??

SOURCE: GE Gas Range Over Won't Heat

Hello, Yes this is going to be the bake igniter. If you remove the lower panel in the oven you will see the bake igniter. It may still be working when you switch on the oven but it is not getting up to the correct temp in order to ignite the gas. Replace the igniter and you will be all set. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Good Luck! Mike

SOURCE: My Kenmore gas stove model 790, the oven will not

It appears your thermostat/probe has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Hotpoint oven won't heat above 250 degrees broiler works fine as well as the stove top

either its the oven sensor rod located at the top of the ovens cavity,or your bake element could be getting a hot spot which is when it gets a discolored spot in the element and can no longer pass sufficient current to heat the oven past 250 degrees

Stove top and broiler work Oven won't heat

the way to check this is to first see if ignitor comes on or put an amp clamp meter on it. the ignitor needs to draw 2.8 amps or more to engage the gas valve. if it doesnt lite or draw any amps at all. check voltage to bake ignitor. it will be the ignitor most likely. but the gas valve or control could be bad.

You probably need to replace the baking igniter, (Igniter, bake burner
Part Number: AP4102011 made by MAYTAG).

I tested the igniter function by (CAREFULLY) jerryrigging a bridge to wire the BAKE igniter to the BROILER controls.(Push/click plugs accessible by opening up the stove back) Testing thebroiler controls this way the bake element remained cold. I then did the same test but connected the BROILER igniter to the BAKE controls and got a good glow. This indicates that the controls work but the Bake igniter's faulty!

You can access the bake igniter by removal of 2 screws at the front at the platform just inside the top oven. The broil and bake igniters appear to be identical but the push/click plugs are reversed at the back of the stove. (hence the CAREFUL jerry rigged wiring bridge.)The parts and wiring are pretty simple and visual once you get thecovers off. Opening up the stove back is just a matter of removingseveral screws. UNPLUG the stove before you work. If you test as Idescribed, make all connections while UNPLUGGED and then plug it inonly for the brief test. Unplug again while disconnecting/reconnecting.Hope this helps.
