The coffee maker heats up the water, but it doesn't seem to be filtering the water. I'm not even sure if the water is being drained out of the water resevoir.

It sounds like the pump has possibly gone out , if that is the case, the pump cost and time and hassle to put new pump in ( IF, you can get it) would not be worth it on that type of machine. Might be time to hit the sales for a new one. Sorry, mike ( Mr Bean)

Why won't the hot water empty into the coffee pot?

Make sure your caraffe has its lid on , and check the bottom of the filter. it usually has a valve preventing coffee from leaking when you remove the caraffe. the lid pushes the valve back open when you place the caraffe back into the machine.

Some of the water goes through the machine to the carafe but a significant amount of water remains with the coffee and filter. Thank you for any help.

Hi there. Firsty give it time as the water does take time to drain through. If this doesn't work check you have the jug sat correctly underneath. Cheers
