I think it's a driver problem. Do the following;
1. Open "Control Panel" 2. Expand the "Mice and Other Pointing Device" 3. Uninstall your Touchpad from the menu by right-clicking on it. 4. After that, right-click on "Mice and Other Pointing Device" 5. Click "Scan for Hardware Changes" and it wait for your computer to automatically ddetect your touchpad and reinstall it.
Try using the touchpad.

Several times each day my mouse on my laptop (Dell Lattitude E5510) becomes unresponsive. I can then use the touch pad to restore my control or the mouse works if I switch USB ports. It doesn't se

Some mouses stop responding if you do not use it for a few minutes. This is usually a battery saving feature. Usually all you got to do is use the scroll button to reactivate the mouse by scrolling up or down. This will bring the mouse back to life. When you change the ports you are actually doing the same thing (reactivating). Also check whether battery needs changing.

Touch pad scrolling not working

Connect an external mouse and see if there is any issue . If so the pad can be faulty on the PC. Please restore the PC and reinstall the drivers. If not you will need to check the touch pad circuit and clean the scroll button contacts.

I have an compaq evo n600c with a problem its touch pad not working and its arrow stopped in the middle..what can i do to activate it?

Hi

you could try pressing the FN+F7 key once i believe this will enable or disable the touchpad
jusst have a look at the F7 key and see if it has a picture something like a small hand or finger pointing at it some laptops use the F9 key i believe

if this does not work

you could go to device manager
scroll down to find mouse/pointing devices
un install it then restart the laptop

hopefully when windows restarts it will find new hard ware
and install the touchpad correctly for you

many thaks

I have just installed my windows 7 home premium upgrade to replace vista home premium that my acer aspire 5738z notebook came with, everything seems to be ok apart from my mouse pad isnt functioning...

this means ur scroll pad isnt properly configured. i have a general idea of this problem. first try restarting ur computer. if it doesnt work go to control panel and check that ur mousepad is properly configured. i had this problem once and it turned out i just had some dust or something on my pad. just wipe it with a cloth. Hope this helps!

Touch pad issues

Next time you try scrolling on the touch pad, also push down (really) hard on the touch pad(kind of like you're squeezing the player). Keep doing this, and you may get it working. I've dropped mine a few times, and this push/squeeze/scroll seemed to work.
