I have just purchased printmaster silver 12 to replace verion 8 which was fantastic only because I needed something compatable with windows 7. I have installed it and registered with broderbund, but cannot access art work as I now need to register with expressit.com - however I get an error 301 message. I have tried taking down the firewall without success. What can I do?

Printmaster 10 may not work with Windows 7. Just uninstall Printmaster 2012 then install Printermaster 10 using the installation CD.
I recommend you go to the Printmaster support site and ask them if version 10 will work with Windows 7 so you do not have to uninstall 2012 version if version 10 will not work with Windows 7.

The only solution with this older software that will work is to use a computer (virtual, dual-boot, or true second machine) with an older version of Windows installed. If you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate (or are willing to upgrade to one of these versions), you can create a virtual XP computer for free. Download and install Virtual PC and XP mode from Microsoft. Install them in order. Then install the XP software in the virtual computer and it will work. (Other virtual computer programs are Parallels and VMWare.) All of the other options will require a licensed version of the older Windows OS. Please note that the virtual computer can't share files directly with the main computer. You'll need to save files to external or removable media (optical media or flash drive, for example) to share them. You can't have a printer installed on both the main computer and the virtual one at the same time. You will be asked to uninstall the printer if you try.

Your other option is to upgrade to PrintMaster Platinum 18.1, see http://www.broderbund.com/ for details, which is compatible with Windows 7. This will import your Printmaster 10 projects.

i would uninstall it then reboot your computer and then reinstall it. The software is fully working in vista and windows 7. So i am guessing there was a hiccup when copying files during install. I would also check drive c: or whatever drive you are installing it to , for errors

Printmaster platinum 8.0 is rather an old 16bits software and it is not compatible to your new version Win 7 OS.

Your option is to upgrade to version 18 which is Win 7 compatible.

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. If it will not install

1. Find the Setup program.
2. Right-click on the Setup program> Properties> Compatibility tab> select "Run this program in compatibility mode" check box.
3. Select the operating system that the program ran on previously, and then click OK.

I am guessing that your new computer has windows vista on it. That may be the reason Printmaster 12 will not install. Certain programs or their installations are not compatible with Vista.

I'm not sure what errors you are getting, and I am assuming you are running Windows Vista, so again I'm just guessing.

You could try to launch the setup program manually and using compatibility mode by following these steps:

1. Insert your installation disk.
2. Click the start button

3. Click on Computer
4. Right click on the drive containing your installation CD
5. Select Explore from the menu.
6. Find the Setup or Install file in the list.
7 Right click on it.
8. Select Properties.
9 Select the Compatibility tab at the top.
10. check "Run this program in compatibility mode for"
11. In the drop down menu select windows xp
12. check "disable visual themes"
13. Check "run this program as administrator" (if it is available)
14 click OK

15 now double click on the setup/install program.
