Sony Wide Screen Projection TV KP-51WS520

Hope you can help me out - My Sony TV KP51WS520 power button will not work - tv will not turn on; the red light blinks 9 times. I tried replacing the clear fuse behind the power cord, but no luck.

hi I have almost the same problem, when i turn on the TV, the stand by light will just keep flashing. I find that by double clicking the power button on the remote it will come on most of the time after a couple of tries. this is the first problem i've had with it since i bought it new in 05. any suggestions?

Our Sony KP-51WS520 won't turn on anymore, the red standby LED light flashes 8-9 times. After checking out this forum, guess we're joining your club. I'm not sure from the responses if there is any permanent fix for this issue. Is it worth having a tech try to repair it or should we be looking for a new TV? The warranty just expired a short while ago. These manufacturers really know how to work us consumers over!

I had the same problem. blinking 9 times, pausing, 9 times...... remote would not power the tv on. after five minutes of pressing the remote it finally would. after turning it off you would have the same problem. sometimes a half hour of pressing remote in every which what way. finally left the tv on for three days and would mute at nite to go to bed. didn't think that was the best way so turned it off and it never turned back on. checked all the forums and found out it was the g board. unfortunately, you cant buy the whole g board anymore. if you take the back panel off the tv, on the lower left corner is where the g-board is. there are 3 little things to unplug and two screws (phillips head) in the middle of the g board. its simple to figure how to take it out. go to the sony direct parts website. the part # is A1054157A for the g board. since they dont sell it anymore they have a phase 3 program where you send in your old g board and they repair it for 64.95. it'll cost about 8 bucks to ship it to them. better than the 400 bucks the tv guy wanted. address is sony customer satisfaction ctr. , materials door 27H, mount pleasant, PA 15666 there number is 866-748-8272. call first and they give you the step by step instructions what to do. after tax and shipping it came out to less than 80 dollars.even came with a warranty. got it back in a week, popped it in and just love turning the tv on. anyone can do it.

I´ve the same problem, just apply heat again at the diods, to resoldered, the diods d6301 and d6116, my tv turn on again, but the diods were getting dead every time i did that, and the frecuency of this operation were short everytime.

The question does anyone know the specs of the diods, simply to replace them and save a lot of money. Wont pay 500 bucks to obtain two diods of less than 10 bucks.

I have a Sony Kp-51ws520 5 blinks

Try connecting the TV directly to a different wall outlet and check. If the issue persists, try power resetting the TV. Turn Off the TV and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation. If the issue persists, then the TV requires service.

The tv wont turn on. the red light blinks 9 times.

There is a problem with one or two of the diodes on the G board.
Zero Crossing Detector 9 times 9:0 or 9:1
Probable cause • D6116 or D6301 is open (G Board)
symptom • No picture
I hope this helps and good luck!

TV won't turn on

There's a small diode on the power supply board that causes this. Its identifiable by its purple stripe. You will need the correct type of diode to fix this properly. The diode supplies the standby voltage to the system control circuit, so when it fails, the TV will never come on.
