Picture problem

This is something that can be adjusted from the service menu, to an extent. It's been referred to as the "football affect" as in severe cases your visible screen starts to look football shaped. Here's instructions on how to adjust it. It will take some playing with these settings to get it just right. OPERATION METHOD FOR COARSE ADJUSTMENT (first do it in NTSC Full mode) 1. Enter the service mode and select PJE category. 2. Press the 1 or 4 button on the remote commander to select the item, and then use the joystick to change the data 3. Press button 6 to display the internal test signal (crosshatch) 4. Select GRN CENT (or any item you want to adjust). When BLU or RED is displayed, press the 3 button on the remote commander to change the adjustment color in the order of GRN BLU RED. 5. In GRN, BLU, or RED mode, move the joystick up or down to change the data in vertical direction, or left or right to change the data in a horizontal direction. 6. Before returning to the service mode, press the MUTING + ENTER buttons on the remote commander to write the data. (You must complete step 6 to write the data. If you omit step 6 the set data is returned to the data prior to the adjustment. Like fine adjustment, data can be copied from NTSC Full mode to other modes. And re-register FLASH FOCUS is required for it to work properly (not overwrite your changes). Items available in PJE category for coarse adjustment CENT SKEW SIZE LIN MSIZ (horizontally only) MLIN (horizontally only) PIN KEY (vertically only) For each item (and each color), there are two numbers shown on the screen, one for horizontal data and one for vertical data. Write down those numbers before making any changes, in case you want to change them back. Ok, the things you need to adjust the football effect are pin, and key. Also you may have to work with the bow settings. Pin is what's pushing the corners towards the center of the screem. Bow affects the over all bend of the screen, and key is a wave type adjustment.

Picture turns bright red then TV shuts off. the standby light blinks 2 times

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/ If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Sony KP-51Ws520

9 blinks means, "Zero Crossing Detector" and the probable cause locations listed are "D6166 or D6114 is open (G board)". I had the exact same problem so I just ordered a new G board and swapped it with the old one and now everything works fine! You could order a new one at this site: http://www.partstore.com/PartSearch.aspx?PartNumber=A1054157A&x=31&y=19. The Sony board number is A1054157A. Replacing the G board is rather simple; all you got to do is pull out the back cover of the TV and the G board is the first board on your very left. After that unplug the four connectors and replace it with the new one. Here is a picture of the G board inside your TV: http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/8396/backev6.jpg. Hope this helped!

My kp-57ws520 standby light blinks 9 times tv does not come on any more it did for a short period of time

I had a similar problem with a sony 60" lcd hdtv. The normal power on light was green. When I had an issue the led would flash about 8 or 9 times. Can't remember exactly. It turned out to be a troubleshooting code. When I researched it, turned out to be the high powered lamp that lights the lcd screen was shot. When this happens you get no picture or sound. It's not a terribly difficult job to replace it yourself. I found a replacement bulb on line by my model number along with instructions on how to replace. You probably get about 4 or 5 years out of a bulb depending on usage. Hope this helps.

Line in screen

There is a lenticular screen and a fresnel lens on those and they are expensive! You can order them for replacement and they are easy to replace. It is probably the Lenticular screen.
