Replace convergence IC (location 8c01) which is a STK-393-110. You will need to order an after market market convergence IC (STK 393-110) I have had good luck with this IC. Next, check and replace all the 3.9 ohm 2 watt resistors, that are bad. You can check them with an ohm meter or visually inspect for burns or peels. Resolder the Convergence board, as by now there are many bad grounds (broken solder connections). Be sure to resolder the jumper jacks that connect the board to the next board too.(Under this board are solder traces that adhere to the jumper connections that will snap to the next board.) These would include jumper jacks PM, VU, and PF. Good luck and thanks for asking, show all hands of support!

Can not convert the colors in my Rear Projection Television Converge red blue and green

Thats caused by the convergence ICs . You can get the repair kit for your model at the following link . The kit contains both ICs and the 12 feed resistors plus step by step instructions with pictures that show how to do the repair.

Green color seperation multiple images convergence will not fix

Your TV most likely a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

0667c5f.pngSOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Red and Yellow blurred picture

I had the same problem this week. I tried the convergence thing but it was impossible to fix. I still needed the repairman. He changed two convergence units ($325, parts and labor). Then the tv was still doing the same thing. We had to adjust the convergence and now everything is perfect. You will need your converter

The color converter

Seems to me you maybe experiencing a convergence issue rather than the color converter. (Don't know what he means by that for that I am an a tv repair technician).

If it is what I beleive it to be, you need and experience tech to do the work for you. It usually contains replacing two convergence IC packs along with some resistors and sometimes power supply parts. All wich requires good soldering work.

Main color

The Matrix?? Color converters. Ok Lets assume you mean the screen controls that adjust each color of the Picture tubes?? No you can not. Oh maybe your taking about the convergence? Its only necassary to adjust the lines on the GRID or CROSSHATCH if they are drifting and out of alighnment. You certainly can, if your tweeking the controls all the time, wear them out but that would take alot of tweeking. If your set needs tweeking all the time then there is a problem in the convergence and should be addressed asap or the problem will get worse. ou should never go into a set as theres high voltage even when the set is unplugged for a while and will hurt you bad. Always seek a pro in case you need any internal alighments or tweeking. Good Luck
