My phone will not let me record my voice on my personal extention. I have someone elses voice on my extention. Can you help me? Every day when I listen to my messages I hear this persons name instead of mine. Outside callers hear my voice. I have been able to change message but not the internal message which just states the name of the person.

If your system is a Nortel Callpilot just log into your mailbox, then press 8, the first option "Record your name in the company directory" is what I think you're looking for.

How do I set up a voice mail with a Nortel M3904?

This is dependent on you being able to access your voicemail mailbox (a mailbox has been setup for you by the administrator and you know the codes to login to your mailbox). Go to your voicemail which should be:

  1. press the message key.
  2. Enter your mailbox number, then press #
  3. Enter your password, then press #. (if you don't know this then you will have to contact the administrator for the telephone system)
When logged into this:
  1. press 82.
  2. Press 1 for external greeting, 2 for internal greeting, 3 for temporary greeting, or 9 for Personal Verification (spoken name)
  3. Press 5 to record then wait for tone.
  4. Press # to end recording
  5. Press 2 to listen to the greeting
  6. Press 76 then 5 to delete the greeting and re-record it.
  7. Press 4 to return to your messages.

Names are different on voicemail and extentions how do I change them on the voicemail

Hi Denise,
You should generally delete and re-add mailboxes when someone new takes over an extension. It allows the new person to customize the mailbox from scratch.

If all you want is to change the name, go:
Feature 983
Password: 1020000
Select Mbox
Enter the Mailbox number
Hit Next until you see the name, and then select change.
Enter in the new name, press next, and then hang up.

Why wont red Message light on my Nortel Phone

more than likely someone in your office left the message rather than the voice mail. to clear it press the call soft key below the screen. the screen should display who left the message with two of the soft keys labeled call and erase. press the erase soft key. it's possible the the person/s that left the message left multiple messages. in that case repeat the procedure til all messages are canceled
