I just purchased a house with a Jenn-Air gas glass top 4 burner stovetop and a wall oven. No manuals. I emailed Jenn-Air and they sent me the manual for the oven (mfg date Jan 1995) as I found the model and serial # for it, however they want the model and ser# for the stove top to send a manual for that. How do I get it out of the counter to get these #s? Also the I now have to use a lighter to start the burners just before it was making a clicking noise.... Jeanie

Neither of these are a typical Jenn-Air model number. http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US suggests that the model number is on the back wall under the burner on the right side of a drop-in cooktop. For a range the model number is often on the frame inside the oven door, below the vent or on the back of the top of the range.
87946 or 87847 are the part numbers for the cartridges (the elements or the surrounding housing).
Look at the model number locations at the "Help me find my model number" link and try to locate a model number on your range. Then enter that model into the search box. The manual is probably available with the correct part number. Most Jenn-air electric cooktops start with JEC in their model number.
I hope this helps you locate the manual.
Cindy Wells (I did try JEC87847 just in case you left off the leading alphabetical characters.)
either the gas valve for that particular burner isnt opening,or if all burners are like this then the dual valve that feeds the broiler and stovetop has a bad stove top side of valve portion its underneath the oven cavity behind the lower pan drawer
Yes you can, at least I removed mine on a Kenmore. Be very careful as the burners are very delicate and even more so after they have aged.Look under the edge at the front for 3 screws. The top should pull out slightly and lift.
Just a suggestion, turn the breaker off to the range and leave off for 30 secs. This may reset the board. That's the easy way. If that doesn't help I'll try to find more on it.
Did you find anything out? We have had our Jenn-aire gas stove for 1 1/2 years and just noticed today that the surface has bubbled in a spot??? I did clean the oven last week.
