Turn off the water to the fixture. Flush the toilet and hold the handle down to let as much water out of the tank as possible. Sponge the rest of the water out so the tank is dry. Remove or undo the water supply tube from the fill valve. Remove the three bolts holding the tank to the bowl and remove the tank. Replace the old seal with the new one and reverse the whole process. You should be good to go. Good luck.
Thanks for response. When I took it apart there was another thin disc seal in addition to triangular rubber gasket. I purchased triangular replacement gasket but do not see this part inside. It is just a thin gasket made of ??? Also do you need any glue or caulk to make sure it is sealed? Thanks for your help.
The other seal is a cardboard filler that you should put in with the new rubber seal if it is in good shape it keeps the rubber seal from sticking to the toilet bowl.
You do not need any sealant this is a compression seal.
