I've tried uplugging for a few hours and that didn't seem to solve the issue. All the lights continue to blink and it's sounds like the motor is running. Before this behavior started the machine was blinking with 4 blinking lights on each side. Before this everything worked fine.

    All suggestions welcome.

I purchased the unit 6 years ago, so it is out of the 5 year warranty period.

  • pamela1636 Jul 31, 2008

I'm not sure it's an electrical issue. If I put water in the in bottom of th unit and turn it on it pumps it out. And I've tried different plugs with the same result.

What had changed since you last use it? Prior day? Also when last did you clean out the filters for it?

1. Drain Pump
2. Block Drain (blocked or kinked)
3. Valve Leakage

The electronic display has detected a sensor fault on the unit for the flashing you see. Check the filters and drain pump. Make sure nothing is clog also the line where the hot water goes to it. I know you said you have it under protection for 5 years and that's up right so some parts might need to be replace. If you go down to your main breaker for the unit you can trip it off and on and see if that clears it up but I you might have a serious problem with it.

Now you got 2 options.

1. Call up Viking and get an estimate of how much it will cost to repair the damage.

2. If the cost is greater than buying a brand new one then, better off getting another one then. If not then get it repaired.

Hey,,ok ..
Your promlem is mechnical and unplugging wont help..
you will need to open up the machine and see whats wrong. You way that you hear a motor running ? this can be the motor , aggitator or pump. But sice its running means it fine. The problem will be with eighter the mount, gears or the mainboard. If you have experience with these type of repairs we can provide you with a service manual,, If not I'd suggest you call a pro ...

unfortunately to tell you what the exact problem is we need to be there. But more than likely with the blinking led's its a problem with the main boad. if you open it up and look at the board you may se burnt components. if not you will need a multimeter to trace the voltages. normally this is repaired by simply replacing the main board.

If your dishwasher doesn't work at all, check these:

Power from the house
Door switch
Wiring
Timer or selector switch
Power from the house Isthere power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electricalcircuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for ablown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch Thedoor switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasherwon't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panelcover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.

Wiring Oftenthe main wiring connection from the house, at the dishwasher, burns andbreaks the connection. If that's the problem, the wires must berepaired/replaced as necessary. If that's not the problem, check thewiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lowerpart of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-gradewire and connectors.

Timer or selector switch Althoughit's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. Ifso, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of thesecan be repaired.

You need to unplug the dishwasher from it's power source and let it sit for a couple of hours. If the problem continues after plugging the unit back in, then you need to consider the cause of the problem. It sounds like it is electrical. Most likely a current filament in the electronics is not working right or there is a short or open in the wiring. I also suggest that you check the polarity of the outlet you are plugging the unit into.

My Viking D3 Dishwasher - at start of cycle, it sounds as if it is working. However, the timer never counts down, the detergent is never released, and little-to-no water is released into dishwasher.

Let’s assume the dishwasher is working correctly because it turns on but nothing else works. If a dishwasher does not fill with water at the correct level, it will not continue to advance. You’re not getting water. Check hot water valve under sink. The one for dishwasher. Maybe someone shut it off on accident. Also,
Water deposits like lime, calcium will build up and clog the screen on the dishwasher’s hot water intake valve.
That would need cleaned out. The valve itself will go bad alone. Regardless, once it’s getting water the dishwasher will run. Please let me know!!

Won't start/run. CLEAN light blinks continuously. manual drain (CANCEL)button works model number DU1100XTPQ9

When the clean light is blinking, the self-test on the dishwasher has reported a problem with the heating circuit. It needs to be fixed. If the dishwasher is still under warranty, call for service.

The manual for the DU1100XTPQ9 is here: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/4164/WHIRLPOOL-Dishwasher-L0704454?brand_name_search=DU1100XTPQ9+WHIRLPOOL . Various parts diagrams and links to purchase the parts are here http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Whirlpool-Parts/Dishwasher-Parts/Model-DU1100XTPQ9/1198/0130000 .

I hope this helps.

Hi - my Viking dishwasher has developed a problem where the pump runs continuously, whether the power switch is ON or OFF. After the power is turned ON, the troubleshooting guide indicates that there is...

if you open the kick plate, you'll see the pan below the motor and check for leaks. The leaks will trigger the sensor to pump water out. Once you dry out the pan, the pump motor will stop and you should be able to reset the program.

The dishwasher will start to cycle. I can hear the water begin to run. I hear a click and at the time the dishwasher should start to run the cleaning cycle. During the cleaning cycle the dishwasher will...

This is probably okay, you have clock like motions running the motor electric contacts. There needs to be a delay between some cycles or shorting will occur. The motor on some designs, for example. is reversed to pump out water. to have this work long term, a delay is inherent and not a concern.

GE Profile PDW7880G00SS Dishwasher will not Start

Re: My dishwasher start light flashes and the timer display is blank.

That is a fault condition, if the display is blank it is probably a faulty control board.

Unplug the appliace from main, or trip circuit braker to cut power for ten minutes.

If display is still blank on startup, then replace the timer control assembly.

Cycle just continues with the pot symbol blinking

disconnect the hose and run it into a bucket, is it pumping freely?.

did you check the trap for a blockage?

You may have a leak in the pump housing area below the unit, this would cause the drain pump to run continually.
