clean the battery posts within the remote with a pencil eraser or fine sandpaper, change to new batteries. check about buying a new remote if no change after changing to new batteries.
Yes, you can get replacement Vizio remotes at Walmart for like $10. I know you said you changed batteries, but were they new reputable batteries? Is it the OEM remote or a univeral remote you have?
If you have been change the battery but remote still not work, please dissemble your remote check battery lead/wires for defective and other part on pbc. If nothing wrong there, the problem is usually the IR bulb on remote. Try replace with same model or just replace your remote with new one.
It is possible that you will need to re-program your remote control, it sounds as though the remote has lost it's settings. This can happen when changing batteries, usually a remote will retain the code for around ten minutes or so once the batteries have gone flat or have been removed, after that time it loses it's code. I assume the batteries are new so try re-programing the remote control for your tv with the correct code and hopefully this will work.
The remote keeps it's memory in a non-volatile memory chip which is unaffected by power loss. So changing the battery is safe. The replacement batteries can be ordered from your RTI dealer for $45. Be careful with a T1 battery connector, they are delicate and can pull away from the board leading to an expensive repair. I'd suggest taking the remote to your dealer and have them replace it for you.
If its a lighter grey colored intellicode remote: There should be a small slot on the side of the remote. Use a coin such as a dime or a penny, stick it in the slot and twist. The remote should split in half and you'll see the coin-shaped battery. After you replace the battery, you can snap the 2 pieces of the remote back together.
If its a dark grey/black intellicode remote: The back cover should partially flip open to reveal the battery. This remote takes a 12volt N-size battery.
If its a keypad remote you are referring to: The bottom half of the keypad's face should slide straight down to reveal the battery (you should see and arrow and some thumb grips). All Genie keypads take 9volt batteries.
