If you can log into the router (admin), the best thing to do would be to just change the WEP key to something new as it is not displayed as text ou can read.
Log in to the router as "admin". If you have not changed the default password, it is blank (not used/set). If you do not know it, you have limited options (see bottom).
If you log in successfully, to get to the key:
Select Wireless in the left hand column. Then
Select Setup at top. Then
Select Wireless Settings at Left. Then
Clink on Manual Wireless Network Setup in center bottom
You will find the "Pre-Shared key" at bottom. this is where you enter the WEP key. Don't forget it.
If you cannot login to router at all:
If you cannot login into the router, you can use the reset button in the back. THIS WILL RESET THE DIR-655 TO THE FACTORY DEFAULTS (meaning it will wipe out everything in the router). You will have to renter all the settings used when you set it up initially, including all security settings.
What this also does do is reset the DIR-655 login to admin and the default password back to "blank" (no password), so you would now be able to login.
Here is one location for the 655 manual, which has all kinds of information. You can also find on Dlinks web site.

Us a wired connection to access the routers setup menu and look under the security tab for the WEP key or just enter a new one, or try pressing the reset button for 20 seconds. That should restore it to factory defaults.
